you may very well have an issue, this is my screen settings for xlt. It was cold till I switched heat on (blue line), did take a bit to warm, I set temp to HI also.

Don't start switching back and forth, it takes a few minutes if it us working, try in your garage at home whe you have time to kill. This is better then the Mach-e for me.

I really don't know exactly how our system works but I assume it still runs hot water from the motor bay into a small radiator inside the cabin. Then a fan pushes air across it to warm up the cabin. The more the valve is open the more heat you get. Shutting off the valve stops all heat. I believe they prioritize heating up the battery before the cabin and that adds complexity. If for some reason it thinks the battery is too cold I wonder if it would never start running hot into the cabin. Again something a competent tech should be able to quickly isolate and test.
This is a diagram of the Mustang Mach E system, our Lightning system is similar, those trucks with the MAX TOW package have an extra AC Compressor to provide direct chilling to the traction battery & motors/inverters.

Wow I see why Sandy made such a bid deal of all the hoses in the frunk!

Looks like that diverter valve is something similar to a tesla octovalve. Wonder how much they changed between the Mach E and a Lightning.

Seems like the upper pic is showing the diverter in a cool fluid position. If you rotate it either direction, fluid flow goes thru the cabin heater pump and the PTC heater. Battery chiller gets pulled out of the loop. I'd start by feeling what hoses are hot and if anything changes turning the heater off and on. I'd also like to see if the expansion tank fluid is hot. If you had another Lightning you could turn the heater off/on and feel different hoses to help narrow things down. Doesn't look like there would be anything you could manually turn to change flow direction.

My wenching days are long gone and things change. I was shocked when I found out that I couldn't change the coolant on my first Tesla. All done with multiple pumps and software. No stopcock to turn anywhere. Fortunately coolant fluids on an EV don't approach ICE temp levels and the fluid lasts a lot longer.

Wonder what Watt2Go found on his appt.

Hey all,

First let me say that my “e-heat” is turned on. It’s now just called “heat”, but I have toggled that many times, to no avail.

I picked up my new 2023 SR on Friday, and I was loving it until about halfway through my 100 mile journey home, when I realized how cold it had gotten. The truck had been in the garage at the dealership, and it was sunny. When I actually turned on the heat, all I was getting was cold air. I called the dealership and all they’ve been able to do is advise me to turn on the e-heat. But as I said above, that is definitely on.

As a test, I set up a preconditioning schedule, and the app alerts me that the cabin has reached temperature, but its 20 F. I suspect that the cabin temperature sensor might be faulty as a result.

More than likely, I’ll have to get it to a dealer, but everyone is saying they’re booked until spring.

The original dealer wants to drive it back and forth another 250 miles, but I’d prefer to avoid that for obvious reasons.

So I figured I’d post in here and see if anyone had any ideas. Thanks!

Unfortunately, no. Defrost doesn’t generate any heat either.

my VIN is not listed for that recall.

more ideas welcome!
For me it was, and still is a leak in the magic equalizer shown here at 5:40 in, . There was no coolant left in the bottle yet no warning on the dash, etc. The dealer is trying to get the part but no ETA as of yet. I have my truck back and some complimentary coolant to put in as the level drops but I am hesitant to drive the truck too much with a leak in the pressurized cooling system that does way more then just cabin heat...

FYI - I filled the expansion bottle to the MAX level before a ~50mile trip to visit my brother. When I got to his place it was down to MIN. After the trip back home there was barely a 1/4" left in the bottle.

That sucks.

For better or worse, I was able to call in some favors - no thanks to the dealer that sold it to me - and get a tech to look at it. They say they’re seeing “some weird electrical signals” and have escalated to ford.

I would think Ford would be scrambling and prioritizing to address these things, be it leaky equalizers or electronic components. But so far I’m not too impressed, and wondering if I should have stuck with Toyotas.

Agreed, I had Tacomas from 1996 until I purchased a Ranger Tremor for a year and traded that for my long awaiting Lightning and had very few issues with the Toyotas. On my Lightning I've had the active air dam issue what lingered way too long until it seemed a software update fixed that. All the usual recalls, etc, light bar and rubber mat, done. Waiting still for the High Voltage battery check/replacement (no tech trained at dealership) and wiper motor. Minor software glitches here and there and oh yea a severely creased driver seat that the dealer did replace.

I was planning on taking my truck to visit the kids in Chicago for Christmas. There is no way I can take it leaking this much fluid and have no eta until resolution... Don't get me wrong I love my truck. The power and way it drives is just second to none. I've raved to many friends, family and strangers about how much I love it. I may have to tamper my enthusiasm soon :(

Agreed 100%. I’ve only driven mine for 2 of the 10 days I’ve owned it, but I want to love it. It naive of me, for sure, but I would hope someone from Ford would read all this and realize that all the f150 loyalty won’t apply here if the early adopters are getting screwed.

I'm glad to report my truck has reliable heat once again! It was a couple week wait for the part but when it came in the dealer installed right off for me. Happy with my interactions with the Service Manager and the part is on the way back to Ford. Hopefully they can determine the root cause and I'd be curious as to the retail price of these down the road in case I ever had to do myself in the future.

For me, the dealer just replaced an oil pump and a heater unit, but it apparently did not do the trick. I’ll forward this to them though, thanks!

At this point I’m left with a pretty bad taste in my mouth. Between the dealer that sold it to me blatantly ignoring me, and ford being utterly useless, (they called me to tell me to call the service dept) I’m about ready to declare Ford as dead to me. That matters to exactly no one, I know. But holy hell has this been a horrible experience in customer service.

I will at least say that the dealer that’s helping me with service great. They’re doing all they can do. (different from the dealer that sold it to me in every way)
