reminds me of this twitter post:

and elon's response regarding range:

Though Teslas use heat pumps so the efficiency comparison is probably wrong.

E-heat should NEVER be turned off. Makes absolutely no sense that should even be a thing. Its entirely redundant with the temperature knob.
The temp knob moves a cold/warm air blend door in the plenum, just like every car for decades. You can hear it move.

I was messing around trying to thaw my windows of outside ice, and tried the recirc setting (thinking the cabin air at 0 would be better than pulling in -15 air from outside). Did not realize that the recirc button had disabled the E-heat. Took me a while of wondering why the system was blowing cold air to notice the E-heat switch had turned itself off.
That is annoying. The recirc door stays open to keep cabin humidity from fogging windows, from the inside. Next time, try also turning on the A/C. Sounds counter-intuitive, but the A/C will blow dry air from the plenum. The heater should be able to outperform the a/c's blowing cold.

Watch this from 26:30. He makes a comment about the climate control automatically turning on the recirculation. Clearly they are trying to manage this for you and I assume if they turn it on automatically, they turn it off too.

What do folks think of Palmer's suggestion that you set your departure time to some random early time each day in order to pre-condition the battery for that day's driving?
I'm looking to improve my winter driving range, but 1) don't leave the house at the same time every day and 2) don't want to draw a bunch of extra juice conditioning the battery (even in at off-peak rates) if it's not needed.
I routinely use FordPass to start the truck 15 min ahead of departing, and had assumed that in addition to heating the cabin, that would also pre-condition the battery while still plugged in.
I need to invest in a connected charger to be able to monitor actual draw from the EVSE over time.

sw engineering manager,
Sitting here in my truck slightly cold. Turned on the heat. No heat. So searching the web and found this old thread. Didn't realize it was my own complaint! ha!

Still cannot figure out how to make the thing blow any warm air, though.

The temperature setting being significantly higher than the outside air should be your clue that the driver wants some fricken warm air!
The “fix” in post 9 works.

Figured it out. The fan (and I think the A/C) will run when the truck is in accessory mode. But the heat only comes on when the truck is "Running". Kind of lame.

Please be aware of humidity and twet bulb temperatures.

Yes.
It shares the same heater with the batteries!
