LVL2 charging is fairly easy to do. Outside of the connector, there is much less software shenanigans to optimise charge while preserving battery. It’s basically just like plugging an appliance. Therefore much less problems, except for apps of courses which are totally unnecessary.Agreed!! Say what you will about Elon Musk, but IMO what he has done for the EV world is pretty impressive. And I like that the Tesla charging network will soon (hopefully) be opened up to us. Whether it be a magic jack, or an adaptor from Ford, I'm looking forward to using a Tesla Supercharger while on a trip. The Tesla Destination chargers (I believe they are Level 2 not 3) seem to work well, with an adapter you can buy from Amazon (thats what I did) - they are just slower than the SuperChargers.
DCFC requires a lot more software and firmware compatibility between charger manufacturer, network operators and car companies. Lots of players and no standards. This is where the real challenge is. But they still have crappy unnecessary apps only for billing and marketing purposes while it should be simply like a gas pump with nfc payment.
