In a (not very good) defense, he does give you three sets of the inserts...can do both sides even after you screw up the first one.

I don't think it's a bad price for something niche like that.

Yes, I did buy a set... a thin blue line to match the inserts for the tailgate. I had to ask him to make this....so if you have an idea of what you want and he doesn't offer it, just ask! I figure I will be getting pulled over A LOT, so I'm sucking up before I even get my truck

Damn, I have a Cricut vinyl cutter. Just may have to make some myself and undercut this jackass on Etsy.
Good idea!

My wife uses the Cricut machine all the time.

I'll hit her up !

Grossssss. Hoping ali express or maybe redbubble can get in on this and make it more appropriately pricedā€¦
They look nice but not at that price. I paid a lot less for much more vinyl for tailgate f150.

Surprisingly he replied back. Iā€™m all for supporting small businesses since I am one but at some point you have to look at the price of material and time compared to the selling price as say WTF. When you can buy domed 3D tailgate appliquĆ© for less then these tiny charge port stickers you know the seller is just a greedy person who will lose out of sales as a result.
$45 to custom cut & mail a colored insert is too much? Wow. Get off your wallet. It has nothing to do with the price of materials. Nothing. It is the time to set up, package etc. What's YOUR time worth? SHEESH. My litigation support consulting time is $500/hr for some clients, $1,000 for others, turn down most. That's pretty standard. I happily purchased the etsy inserts.

Glad you have more money then sense but Iā€™ll wait for other reputable graphics folks to offer it at a reasonable price. With that, I hope you feel better now, I know that was sitting heavy on chest so it must feel good to have that pressure removed. šŸ™„

Doing well has nothing to do with it. It is basic respect for peopleā€™s time. $45 is NOTHING for a custom cut personal serviced item. Before you start throwing class warfare darts, consider what you do/donā€™t know. Yeah, I have some stuff, came from poverty. As I write this, sit inside the fences at NAS Whidbey Island where my son is active duty Navy (seeing your background). Chill.

Iā€™m very chill. Remember, youā€™re the one that felt the need to respond to my postā€¦.I was minding my own business.

The fact that you are ok paying for overpriced decals doesnā€™t mean everyone should pony up the money because you did. I have a very successful business and understand the value of time and material cost but there is a difference between profit and greed and this seller is greedy when you consider his competitors sell nicer quality products for less.

As for coming from poverty, been there done that and it was one of the many reasons I joined the Navy and served 25 years on active duty. Iā€™m sure you are very proud of your son as you should be, joining the military is very noble and honorable, he is a patriot.

In closing, please donā€™t feel the need respond to other peoples post if you canā€™t handle criticism in reverse - remember, you replied to my post that had nothing to do with you. You are obviously more well off then a lot of people here and good for you.

I REALLY hate to agree with Dave on anything, but what are the alternatives for this product? I don't see anyone else offering this at any price point. Is it wildly expensive for the raw materials? Yes, but I don't see anyone else offering this...hint, hint!

Iā€™ve asked a few etsy companies that Iā€™ve used recently and they will be offering them soon.

I only responded in reaction to your name calling a legit vendor ("greed") and disrespecting an entrepreneurial person's time - so defended them. Your response showed who you are as a person - following up by trying to wealth shame me, using profile pic, photoshop circle and all. Good for you, shows intense insecurity.

I stand by my perspective that $45 is a bargain for any custom-made product. This isn't some bumper sticker sitting in a bin, waiting to be stuck in an envelope with a hand-written address. Selling, producing and shipping a custom item to a buyer requires about an hour of time, and more than a dozen steps, between accepting the sale, processing the payment, accepting the funds, communicating with the buyer, setting up the cutter, selecting and installing the material, executing the pattern cut, clearing and disposing excess material, stuffing the envelope, logging the sale, logging into UPS or USPS and inputting the address information, paying for shipping, printing the label, sending the item, following up with customer, collecting and paying sales tax, etc. You claim to be in business - is YOUR time worth $45/hr?

Forums are often a place to say anything without regard to basic human kindness, saying impolite stuff we would never do/say in person. This exchange is exhibit A. The anonymity of calling out an unnamed etsy seller as greedy may have seemed innocuous to you, but not to me. I am tired of it. Then you couldn't help but double down with me. I hope you feel better.
