Been trying to gather information on how to enable the software. Ford's website that originally mentioned this is now a dead link. The dealer doesn't have any additional information. I pinged Ford communications and was told this:
1) Install the Ford Charge Station App from either the Google Play Store (Android users) or the App Store (iPhone users).
*Note: If the customer had their Ford Charge Station Pro installed by Sunrun, the Sunrun installer will set up the Ford Charge Station Pro with the App. If this is not the case, advise the customer to complete the steps below:
2) Tap Account on the Home screen on the FordPass App.
3) Scroll down and tap on Charge Station.
4) Tap Get Started.
5) Select 80A Charge Station Pro.
6) Tap Let’s Go.
*Note: Tapping the Let’s Go button will redirect the customer to the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store if the Ford Charge Station App is not installed. Tap Install on the store page to install the app from the Google Play Store and tap Get to install the app from the Apple App Store.
I'm still skeptical that this will enable the intelligent backup and think it might be just to connect the charger to the vehicle. But several rounds of asking for confirmation and I was told once this is done, the vehicle will be enabled for home backup. With the HiS also installed of course.
