Thank you for this. Trading in a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV so have a stage 2 charger in the garage already. It’s 7 years old so be interesting to see what the speed is, my old car never showed that. May need to upgrade.Ford.com account

Connected Services / Credit Card for carefree plug & charge.
Assuming it was spec'd in the truck build sheet, check for mobile charger in frunk, rear cabin or under the rear bench seat.
How do you plan to charge at home?
If your existing Fordpass account has provisions for "Connected Services" and you've associated a credit card to it, then you're good to go for certain plug & charge providers, I don't recall which vendors are capable, hopefully a few other canadian members will chime in.I’ve read about charging on the road. Does it go through the ford app? Or is there a general app I set up to charge. Im in Canada so it may be different than US.
I am located in Manitoba and the only plug and charge here is the Tesla superchargers but if you are using those more that a couple times a month it pays to get a membership through the app and activate chargers in the Tesla app. Elsewhere in Canada they have electrify Canada that I believe has plug and charge as well.If your existing Fordpass account has provisions for "Connected Services" and you've associated a credit card to it, then you're good to go for certain plug & charge providers, I don't recall which vendors are capable, hopefully a few other canadian members will chime in.
BTW: regional forum for CANADA
Don’t plan on it often at all, thanks for the tip though. Mostly local for me and when I’m going away for kids hockey/soccer tournaments my wife has a gas SUV. Likely take that to avoid the aggravation of having to stop and chargeI am located in Manitoba and the only plug and charge here is the Tesla superchargers but if you are using those more that a couple times a month it pays to get a membership through the app and activate chargers in the Tesla app. Elsewhere in Canada they have electrify Canada that I believe has plug and charge as well.
honestly we have road tripped our lightning and Mach e several times and the Tesla network is a game changer. Really not inconvenient. we just coordinate our stops with our normal stops for lunch and generally the car is ready to go before we are.Don’t plan on it often at all, thanks for the tip though. Lots of great info there. EXCELLENT idea about trying all those locations before they are NEEDED.Also am a recent (6 weeks now) XLT owner in NW Ontario region, LOVE the truck,
Few things I found so far that may help you:
-Spend a bit of time navigating the new truck menus - learn where to find 'stuff'.
-Change the default hot spot to 'off' and blue-tooth name ("Lightning" kinda stands out too much).
- Set up your Location-1 Charging as your home charger, and set the Target Charge to say 80% for normal daily driver use.
- Set your departure time if you have a regular Weekday departure time, so the Truck uses the plug to heat or cool the cabin and prepare the batteries/motors - not the battery for this, at least while it is plugged in.
- In the Ford App, "Energy" Tab - go to "Departure Times" set you typical morning departure time, and then go below to "Prepare Cabin Off Plug" - you can toggle this on or off. Note: the time zone your in can be adjusted here as well. (I live on the boundry between two time zones, so this is handy feature for me so the truck knows when to prepare the cabin for me). If you go on a trip and the truck is parked for a couple weeks, you can toggle the 'dissable departure times' so it is not using energy preparing the cabin while your away.
-even if you plan to charge at home most of the time (I do too) get the Charing aps into your phone and use a few public chargers When You DON'T Need Them !
- ie I deliberately looked for the Flo, Chargepoint, PetroCanada, andTesla charging stations near where I live, and did a 10-20 kWh charge session at every different type of charging station I have available, to Confirm they work with my truck, my payment information, etc. This is to be sure I am not stuck one day when I REALLY DO NEED one of these apps to work. I even got the Electricrify-Canada App (nearest station is 800km away !)
- next take out the 'Destination Charger' that came with the truck and make sure it works from a standard outlet, and a 240v outlet as it should. Then put it away again.
- Finally since you're in Canada - I suggest you get a GOEV A2Z Typhoon Pro Adapter (goes from the Tesla NACS standard to the CCS1 standard on the Lightning) These are $240-ish CAN$ and mine arrived a few days from order - free shipping. You can't use Tesla Chargers without the Adapter, and this one is super solid, fits in the recessed area ahead of the gear-selector for easy grab and use on the go. Also came with a nice zip up case, if you want to store it under the seat.
Try not to leave all the WRX's in your dust, it makes them cry like a baby ... but Enjoy the new truck !
Yes it will. And it makes those driving ICE sports cars cranky... lol. Enjoy your new truck!I got a 2024 Mustang GT last summer and realized very quickly the lightning would kill it off the line lol
Thats what we are all here for, to help one another !Thank you for taking the time to write such a long detailed response, it’s greatly appreciated!
