DIY Writeup Instructions [PDF]: (see attached file)

I added Adaptive Cruise Control(Radar and wiring harness) with Lane Centering to my 22 Pro today. I also disabled the frunk 'beeper'...nice!

I'll hand creds to Brotato and others at https://www.f150lightningforum.com/...keep-alert-to-2022-f-150-lightning-xlt.14870/ for others finding success ...

I updated my own programming PAGES(Attached) for an easier way to look at how the code thru Forscan, my first time, too.... you may need to hunt and peck around the Forscan screen to get to the module you are looking for, etc.

After ordering the parts from a local Ford dealer, and while paying $160 more than other options, I felt that using 'direct from Ford' parts might be best: total $760

I started this morning at 7am, and had the truck operational with the additions at 12pm lunchtime. I took the last programming steps, while running around 45 to 60 for a few miles, without the bumper, and other un-needed parts, until I knew it was a success.

Always nice to see a 'small' project, but with such great outcomes, a success.

this is great. Love to see the success of everyone adding this option. I can't wait to do this to mine.

while the 'physical' removal of connections and trim and the bumper, and fishing the new wiring harness thru the interior of the bumper, the Forscan 'programming' changes might be the most daunting... not that it's a long big deal, but just getting used to what Forscan 'expects' for inputs, and how it processes the changes, and the idea, or fear, that you could 'disable' the truck!

Well, maybe there are more safeguards built into Forscan than one might expect, but at least it 'can' be done, even by us who rarely use a Microsoft laptop anymore, have NEVER used Forscan, and only yesterday purchased a OBDII - I even had to BORROW the laptop, buy a $5 bluetooth dongle, since the OBD is bluetooth only, and keep the laptop plugged in, at ALL times, since it's battery no longer worked! Crazy, but it DID work, in the end.

How does this work without the steering wheel buttons? Is lane centering always on? Is the following distance fixed?

Do you know whether your Forscan amendments will be overwritten by future VIN-based OTA software updates?

A) yes, the ACC and LC addition works WITHOUT any button replacement or addition, it simply 'defaults' to the third level of following distance, which looks to me like maybe 100' from the nearest vehicle, from my short experience today...

B) can't tell you whether any 'updates' would have anything to do with changing vehicle-specific Forscan changes/additions, as it seems the Ford updates are relative to 'all' LIGHTNINGS, equally.

this is the first screen AFTER programming, but not yet 'operational'...
Ford F-150 Lightning DIY success: installing Pro Adaptive Cruise and Lane Centering (and frunk beeper) not yet operational

once the truck has time to 'rest', and possibly 'update', you can now Activate the ACC with the push of the Cruise button: The bottom right corner 'vehicle' icon indicates the ACC is active, with the 'default' 3rd level Following Distance, and the top Left 'steering wheel' icon shows that the system has found the lane and is now 'steering' for you... SPEED SIGN reading is also active.
Ford F-150 Lightning DIY success: installing Pro Adaptive Cruise and Lane Centering (and frunk beeper) 1 operational with FOLLOWING DISTANCE indicator

the bottom right original 'Lane Assist' icon now has the 'steering wheel' added, meaning that Lane CENTERING is now part of the activation.

the FIRST warning, to grab the wheel, or at least 'move' it ever so slightly to let it know you are 'still alive'... this probably is happening much more than I would like, every 10 seconds or so, but, it's still a great joy to have the option! It DOES keep the lane well, so no worries there...
Ford F-150 Lightning DIY success: installing Pro Adaptive Cruise and Lane Centering (and frunk beeper) 3 first warnin

the SECOND warning, with audible BEEPING, and no Stereo or Radio allowed...
Ford F-150 Lightning DIY success: installing Pro Adaptive Cruise and Lane Centering (and frunk beeper) 4 second warnin

the FINAL warning, when the system will then DEACTIVE Cruise and you will immediately start to slow, although Lane ASSIST will still be active... a push of the pedal will REACTIVATE the Cruise, and a grab of the wheel will REACTIVE the Lane Centering.... nice.
Ford F-150 Lightning DIY success: installing Pro Adaptive Cruise and Lane Centering (and frunk beeper) 5 FINAL warnin

how the system looks within the CALM screen...

I now see where the horn(s) is located.
How may things had to be removed to get there?

Fantastic walkthrough. Can't believe you were able to complete the job so quickly while documenting it so well. 👍

[the Frunk 'Beeper' speaker/sensor]
if you know exactly where it is located, it's possible that you could reach up into the interior of the bumper, passenger side, and disconnect it... but... it's fairly simple to remove the front painted facia, and the bumper 'cover' to get to it below, although I'll bet you might have to remove the frunk tub(which is easy) to most easily get to it...sorry.

and YES! I am very much enjoying the 'no more beeping!' when opening and lowering the hood : )

another MODIFICATION today:

I opened Forscan and shuffled through many of the Modules and their specific command functions - one that immediately caught my attention was the 'Automatic Door Locking', typically after reaching 10mph or so... aggravating for a long time, and now SOLVED! No more automatic door locking - I'll lock the doors when I get good and ready, thank you very Much! : ) Sweet.

you may have to recode not only AUTO LOCK, but also AUTO RELOCK, which is apparently the format to 'relock' the doors automatically after someone has exited, but the truck is still 'ON'... when you proceed, the truck then 'relocks' the doors automatically... I disabled ALL of these lines of code.
