Husband drove the kids to school this morning, I later plugged the truck back in because I have a long trip this afternoon. I noticed later in the app it had a charging error. 45k miles and no issues. Makes me feel like the charger caused it, but it is the Ford Station Pro so it shouldn't have. I'm going to let it sit unplugged for now. Any suggestions other than taking it in, if it doesn't clear up?

Correction: Husband said it did say "service soon" but he didn't notice the reduction on power.

Unless you have recently (last day or two) received an update that might have fouled the software, you are most likely looking at a battery cell issue.

That seems to be the number one issue that reduces power to the 50ish level.

You might try a LVH battery reset, but otherwise it looks it’s time to contact your dealer.

I’m not seeing any failed updates. Last one was 6.14 and I’m pretty sure that was from a few weeks ago. I called and got an appointment for next week but still hopeful it will clear its self up. LVH reset, is that disconnecting the 12v battery or something else?

Disconnect for a short period. It forces all the control modules to reboot on reconnect.

Yep what Whammy Bar said. I had 3 battery module failures/replacements. Unfortunately for you they all looked just like this. Get it to the dealer and demand a loaner. You can try messing with the 12v but typically if it is cutting power it won't help.

Hi there! I can look into your Lightning's error message concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Lightning's VIN?

I hate to "me too" this, but I just had the same issue happen yesterday (charger error, power reduction to 54 or 57%, service vehicle soon light, and FordPass app "powertrain or 4wd" error). Made an appointment with my dealer, but they can't get to it until next Thursday. I imagine it will sit at the dealer for 10 days without anyone touching it with Thanksgiving being the following week. Not sure if I can drive it until then or not. This is my second lightning, and I'm not happy. I love the truck, but at 7k miles, this might be what makes us give it up and look at something else.

Interesting mine started yesterday too. First said 54% power now it’s at 57%. Both motors show they are powering. I love this truck too but I worry how long it’s going to take my small town dealer to fix it. I have an appointment on Tuesday.

Edit: Also wanted to add it’s driving fine but i haven’t been able to charge it.

I hope yours gets straightened out quickly. I believe others who have experienced this have said they cannot charge above 66%. I'm currently somewhere in the 80% range, so I am hoping it is just giving me the fault because I'm above 66%, but that when I dip below it I will be able to at least charge back up to 66. It's definitely weird that so many would be having this issue around the same time. Hoping Ford can get everyone back in business quickly.

I just dropped down to 62%. I'll have to try charging.

It made it to 63% before faulting. It took an unusually long time to even get that 1%.
