Mine is always on - I get audio and visual alarms about a collision when my son walks in front of the car when it it in drive and my foot is on the brake...don't know if it would let me run into him, never tried that...

When I try to back out of a parking space at a local bank, the truck sometimes won't let me move, tells me to check my surroundings - nobody around no cars behind me what is it sensing? - and I have to really press hard on the accelerator to finally move backwards - kind of disconcerting the first time it happens, I was afraid I might press hard then run into the bank wall, set off alarms and get shot by responding officers...
Depending on the angle when you park, the truck may put the parking brake on automatically. Not sure if that is the case with you “having to press really hard on the accelerator” because this will disengage the parking brake! Which I think is kind of counterintuitive to what should happen when the parking brake is engaged.

Yes it does put on the parking brake automatically but that goes off when I put it into drive, this was different, with a warning flashing on the screen to check my surroundings.

Another user/poster had the same experience backing up and like me was really scared at how hard they had to press on the accelerator, for fear of backing up at 90 miles an hour into a building!
