I received my 2023 Lightning Platinum on May 10th. On June 14th got a faulty charge message on my phone. Went to the garage and reinserted the charger. Got the dreaded red ring on the truck charging port. Thought it might be the charger (Juice Box 48) so I had a friend drive his Mach-E to see if the charger worked. The charger was fine. Drove to Tidwell Ford in Kennesaw,GA and tried their chargers and the truck would not charge again showing the red ring. Already broken with only 600 miles. Spoke with the service advisor and was told they could not get to the truck until the 20th (six days away). Politely asked if they could get to it sooner because I needed the truck, but no sympathy here. So I brought in the truck early on June 20th and got a rental car. The following day the service advisor called and said the truck had a faulty charger that needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, they could not get a charger for 10 to 14 days which to me is ridiculous. I asked to speak to the EV specialist who was standing next to the advisor but was told no. So I asked the advisor to ask the technician what all was involved and he said the battery pack would need to be removed to get access to the charger. I then asked how long it would take to install the new charger and the EV specialist replied he did not know because he had never done this before. Very disappointing that Ford cannot repair the truck in a more timely manner. Makes me lose confidence in Ford. So, as I write this it looks like the charger will take another week to arrive and who knows how long to install.
Does anyone know where the charging unit is located in the truck and if the battery pack really needs to be removed? Anything like this happen to anyone else?
