I was referring to the specific early access program. Of course we all paid for BlueCruise and wish to have it ASAP. Separate issue. Mine is schedule for next week via dealership updates. They say it is ready. We shall see. Not expecting much compared to my Tesla FSD beta based on initial YouTube video examples. But highway handsfree will be enough for now.I believe i did pay for it
Did your dealership tell you that they could get you current on updates and BLue Cruise? A Ford "In-Vehicle Technology Research Escalation Specialist" told me earlier this week that Ford had not released anything to the dealerships and anyone stuck on 1.7.1 just had to wait.I was referring to the specific early access program. Wow based on the list I am way behind. my last update was 1.7.1 and received in Dec. 2021.Is this what we can expect?
Ford power-up versions

Let us know if they get it done for you
I do not think anyone has been able to get past their 1.7.1 issues through the dealers yet. Mine told me Ford is working on a fix but it has not been released yet.Can someone at ford please call my Dealer in Chapel Hill, NC to explain to them how to update it ? University ford in Durham, NC
After I received the email it was a week or two. 4-5 updates, some of which are big.I finally got the Final Steps to Bluecruise email yesterday and have automatic updates turned on but nothing happened last night. How long has it taken other people for the OTA updates to start once you got the email? I’m currently still on 2.4.1.
Very Nicely Put!Cliff Notes on how to update the vehicle:
The process is detailed fairly well in the sticky at the top of the forum.
- Hook truck up to a external power source
- Open up FDRS
- Plug OBDII adapter into the truck and computer
- Get VIN from truck, let it search Ford's servers for available options.
- Go to Software Update tab and start downloading/running updates.
- Keep going with Software Updates until you're done (several hours for BlueCruise level)
- Unhook battery charger and unplug OBDII cable from truck when done.
Exact same boat as you! Took a longer drive yesterday and it finally went through this morning. Finally got 2.5.1 update finished! I think my issue was the battery wasn’t fully charged enough - I don’t drive M-F and didn’t do anyone drives last weekend so it had been a few weeks without fully charging the battery which I think was the issue. After a 3 hour drive today it updated (I had probably driven 30 miles in the last 2 weeks and it was cold).
For those having issues I did get help from the OTA team. Here is the list of necessary preconditions:
Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL) is engaged
Steering tension torque, no torque is applied to the steering wheel
A diagnostic self-test is not active
No Charging faults are reported
Ignition status, Ignition Off
Ignition status, Accessory functionality Off
The battery voltage is within the required range
The vehicle is stopped
PRNDL in park
Parking brake is applied
Charging is not in Progress ( hybrid or EV high voltage battery charging/LIII)
The hazard indicators are off
The alarm is not sounding
The engine is not running
All doors and liftgate are closed
The parking lights are off
Limp home mode is not active
Illuminated exit is not active
The brake pedal is not being pressed
The battery voltage is within the required range
The windows are closed and not operating
eCall is not active
Remote start is not active
Vehicle theft (SVS) is not active
Remote park assist is not active
Neutral tow is not active
4x4 high/Low is not active
The vehicle must be off for a minimum of 5 minutes before the GWM will attempt the target module update, scheduled or unscheduled. The GWM confirms the 5 minute off condition is met, all other preconditions are met and the battery status can support the update process before initiating the module update(s).
Yeah I had a bit of a go between with a customer service rep working with the engineers. It was a bit slow for a back and forth but overall she was really good and helpful. Long drive was actually her recommendation after going through this checklist, but it was the one that worked!Exact same boat as you! Took a longer drive yesterday and it finally went through this morning.
My OTA customer service was less helpful and I had to do so much explaining.
Regarding the battery, I don't drive for most of the week, but I have driven my truck quite extensively last weekend before trying the update, and it didn't work then so not sure what the issue was with me!
Can't wait for 2.5.2!
I do not - actually don’t have a garage (street parking) so have to charge off the alternator. Otherwise probably would have thrown it on a trickle charger to try and see if that would work instead. I’m assuming it was charge that was affecting it since voltage level was a listed precondition, and that is the only thing I could see a longer drive impacting.Do you have a battery charger?
