2024 Ford Lightning
I just purchased a Ford Lightning with an onboard power system that provides a 240V output. But I will get car next week, Since my well water pump at home operates on 240V, My question is: Is the 240V live wire equivalent to 110V AC relative to ground, or can I directly send 240V to my home’s electrical system? I don't need send another cable - 120v to home again I don’t want to use Ford's Intelligent Backup Power system because it’s too expensive. I also have solar panels, a solar system, and a gas generator. But my solar diverter is 220vac. Not two 110vac, 180 degree. My goal is to disconnect from the Hydro One power grid during the summer due to high electricity transfer fees, which are 0.15/kWh and sometimes transfer fee even 0.20/kWh. Is it possible to do this?"

Your question is worded very odd so it is not possible to accurately answer specifically. The L14-30R receptacle in the bed of the truck is a 240 volt split phase. It is the same as you would find on a 30 amp portable generator. 240v hot to hot. 120v hot to neutral. It has GFCI protection, which can be good or bad depending on what you're doing.

I suggest reading the many threads on here about using the Pro Power 240v as backup power for the house.

I would also suggest contacting a qualified, licensed, and bonded electrician in your area to help with making sure the connections are made safely.

Your truck should absolutely run the well!! but don’t let random people on an Internet forum tell you how to wire it up :)

This site will explain how 240 volts works:
https://fasttraxsystem.com/understanding-the-240-volt-split-phase-system-a-simple-explanation/

It won't go into how ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlet work but this site will:

IF YOU WANT TO FEED YOUR PANEL WITH THE TRUCK
--------------------------------------------------------------
Get the correct lockout for your panel and install the 30 AMP, double pole breaker that goes to the plug it in the upper left had postion of the panel. This will prevent the main and breaker going to the plug that goes to the truck.

Don't connect the ground from plug (green wire) to the ground wire that runs to the panel (Green wire) so only connect the 2 hot leads (red and black usually) and the neutral (white).

I mention this because ProPower will sense a ground fault if your electrician was to connect the ground wire from the panel to the ground wire from the truck.

If you do connect to the panel, hire an electrican if only to not have to deal with the insurance company if something goes wrong.

--------------------------------------------------------------

My 2 cents and welcome to the club! :)

The truck outputs 240v like any other 240v in North America.
Each leg is 120v to neutral and 240v to each other.
It is also GFCI protected, a 240v well pump will run just fine.

AH, you're correct and I modified my earlier post since I was thinking about using the truck to run the house and not just the well pump. Thanks!! :)

You can use the truck like a generator to run your house, but you may have problems with the GFCI in the truck. You can search this forum for tons of info on the subject.

I've done it already using the lockout and it works great! Massachusetts allows for the floating ground if the generator is not permanent (ie emergency only)

Well, I had a generator plug and a simple main safety added, but when I connected the truck 220v to the house, the truck GFI tripped. After much internet searching, I finally disconnected the ground wire at the generator plug and it all works! I’m sure someone will be rolling their eyes at my actions, but . . . It works. All other options would have cost thousands.
