I am working with a dealer in Seattle and along the way they’ve not been the most forthcoming and helpful. I wanted to get quoted the Ford option for financing and the dealer tells me that it’s simply not available any longer and not visible in any of their systems. Do any of you have insight on this?

I've heard other people say their dealer told them it's not available, however the Ford website for it doesn't indicate the program has ended. You could try contacting Ford credit directly, however the website says contact a dealer for full details.

That being said, most people have found that due to the interest rate being higher and the residual being set fairly low that the payments aren't any different than just financing at a better rate.

You could always ask if there are any other balloon payment financing plans available, other banks do do this but it's not too common.

I got my Lightning a couple of weeks ago and was also interested in finding out about that program. The manager at the dealership said he'd had someone use the program before, but showed me in the system that it wasn't available for my vehicle. He wasn't sure why, but thought it could be because the program didn't exist when I placed my order. I wanted to find out about it because I think the resale value could be low 3 or 4 years from now with the technology changing so fast.

You might want to try the trick I used when I bought my Lariat about two months ago: I went to my bank and got a "check ready" car loan for that specific truck. I walked into the dealership with that loan in my pocket. When I went to talk to the finance agent, I told him that I had a bank loan for the truck at X.X%, but I would be happy to finance with the dealership if they could beat that rate. Since the dealer makes the bulk of their money on the financing, they have a strong incentive to do better than the bank. They managed to match the rate, and threw in an extra $1500 (bumped my trade-in $1000 and added $500 "customer loyalty allowance"), so I used their loan.
