Fordpass and Google ASSistant integration broken

This integration made up for a ton of the software shortcomings of the truck. When I was finishing getting ready in the morning, I'd ask Google to start my truck. By the time I grabbed my coffee and whatnot and got out the door, truck was ready to go nice and cool (or warm in the winter). Perfect for when you're not able to keep a to the minute departure schedule every day.

Anyone happen to know what happened here? Is this on Google, or on Ford?

For reasons that only Google understands, they have removed a component of Google Assistant that supported 3rd party apps like FordPass. We have a few other apps that stopped working this week too. If Google wants to lose even more GA market share, they are doing a good job of pushing customers away.

Google announced this way, way in advance. Some companies communicated to their customers of the change. Many did not.

This is basically the switch to Matter, whatever that is.

Matter is a long-awaited standard for home automation devices that most vendors have adopted. With Matter support, all vendor devices (light switches, thermostats, garage door openers, etc) will all respond to the same commands and be usable from one app.

If this is the reason for Google's latest change, they've done a poor job of communicating it.

This is not a "Ford" thing. I have multiple things I use Google Assistant with that have stopped working.

oh man I just learned that this was ever possible only find out that it is no longer possible, has anyone figured out any workarounds? I'd really like to have this functionality!

Nope. Google depreciated the functionality, and Ford continued writing shitty software.
