Front Grille Light Bar - When Should it be on?

I was just in traffic and noticed in my reflection that although my lights were on the front light bar wasn't.

May assumption was that any time that the main headlights were on the light bar would be on.

Is there a problem with my car or is this usual behaviour? I haven't had a chance to check at night, this was just dark (rain) during the day.

Thanks for any suggestions, I don't want an unnecessary dealer visit.

I assume you mean KITT from Knight Rider that would be cool!-not sure who’s old enough to remember that.
I think that would be entirely possible I mean, they have the sequential tail lights and LED technology is pretty advanced now so…
