They are a few weeks out for an undrivable vehicle? You could try another dealer, but you should at least be getting a loaner. I would push them to make room.

Bonus points if you ask for the mannequin as your loaner -- it's only fair.

p.s. I would not drive the vehicle any substantial distance, and would have it towed if the dealer is farther than like a mile.
I can’t blame the dealership on this one. I get stuck on Duty for several days at a time. And driving is an no go as my work is 200miles from home and the dealership.

How fast will it go in reverse? If you are going backwards and it opens...No problem.

Thank you all for your input! It’s still not functioning but a sequence of events offered up by you all at least got it to latch to get it to the dealership!

1. Pulled the fuse (#15 in the passenger kick panel)
2. Had a second hand repeatedly pull the emergency latch and success. It unlatched but the hook was still partly engaged.
3. Pressed the emergency button inside the frunk ( you can hear the latch reset )
4. Shut it with some grunt. (It is now shut but will not open) it only gives a series of 4 long beeps.

not going to attempt to open it until it can get to the dealership.

again. You guys were a huge help!

I think this is the same issue that was on @rlbussard Lightning and the reason it was shipped back while in transit. If I recall he had a TPMS and Hood Latch issue, there was something else also but can’t remember. Sounds like another recall for early deliveries might be in order.

You are correct it was the TMPS, hood latch, and two other minor QC issues. It may be that the TPMS issue was that TMPS recall that needed to be done. That might have been what was holding up all our trucks at the time. They had to go around and do the updates to all of those vehicles.

Interesting, wasn’t there pictures of a lot of Lightnings parked with their frunks open in parking lots around Dearborn a couple of weeks ago…..?

I remember there was that picture floating around. I believe it was more than a few weeks ago though.

I can’t speak for all lightning obviously, but mine seemed to not be the smoothest opening and closing from day one. I Imagine there’s a complexity to this simple latching mechanism

(Eventually) an F-150 Lightning
Those YouTube reviewers may want to reconsider their clever opening sequences where they first appear from inside the frunk.
  • Video starts, with the F-150 Lightning sitting there all pretty, frunk closed.
  • 4 long beeps are heard, followed by the sound of blows on a truck body panel and a muffled shout of "Help!".

Yes there was..I thought it weird they had the frunks open(many of them)..It could be they were fixing an unknown frunk issue on many at a time before shipment...

I know this is just me being pessimistic, but everytime I read of an issue/ potential recall, I think "Ohh that must be why my tracker hasn't updated to the Built status yet" lol
