One of the requirements my wife had for our order, and why we eventually changed to a Lariat, is that she be able to open the doors without removing the key from her purse. Is the XLT able to be locked/unlocked without removing one's fob from a pocket or purse?

After a year of promises, texts, and paperwork attesting to no dealer-adds and selling for MSRP I'm developing a concern my dealership is going to pull a fast one in the next two weeks before I am supposed to pay for my Lariat. So my $80K Lariat might end up being an $80K XLT if it will work for my wife.

I saw a picture of a pre-production Extended Range XLT with the black button on the driver's door handle, but not on the rear driver's side door handle.

Perhaps the owner of an Extended Range XLT can advise.

The XLT has two standard ways of unlocking, using the fob like normal, or using the code on the key pad.

If you option the 312A package, it also adds Intelligent Access, where it will detect the fob and unlock without needing to press the button.

The Lariat with the Co-Pilot 2.0 360 Active package adds Phone As A Key as one more way to unlock.

You either have a Lariat on order, or you don't. If the dealer tries to swap you order for a lower trim at the same price, I would call either your DA or CA Department of Consumer Affairs, and raise hell with Ford.

I have a Lariat on the way but I'm concerned they're going to add tens of thousands of dollars of ADM to it when I show up to pay. If they do that, I'll either have to walk or negotiate for a different Lightning if possible.

I have a XLT with 312a. It is easier for radio and climate controls. With fob in pocket you can use grabbing the door handle. The lock button is for locking. Plus you have the 5 button panel.

if your dealer wants to add ADM to their own stock that's their business but they can't add ADM to YOUR personal order. if they do, contact ford and they'll sort it out for you. If they don't, tell your story here and we can collectively write negative google reviews for your dealership. check out Sunrise Ford of North Hollywood google reviews. Reddit's a bitch. :ROFLMAO:

How hard/costly is it to add Intelligent Access? Is the wiring there like keyless entry?

I don't know what's changed on the current generation, but there was a guy that tried it on the last generation. It was going to need a new BCM, new front door modules, new front door handles, some new harness behind the dash, a new receiver for the fobs and 2 new fobs. Then there was programming. He figured out FORSCAN wouldn't do it and he needed the dealership to do it, and they wouldn't touch it.

3 ways on the regular XLT(311a), key code, key and the FordPass app. I didn’t think “Intelligent access” and few other features were worth $10k extra.

Do you have to interact with the FordPass app or will it unlock/lock the door based on proximity?

The biggest issue is loading up the kids/carseats so wife wants both hands free when dealing with the doors.

Thanks for confirming what I figured would be the answer.
