The power went out at my shop this afternoon in the middle of a project, so rather than fire up a gas genny, I used Pro Power, which worked great. Curiosity got the best of me, so I hooked up an oscilloscope to see if the inverter was pure sine wave or modified sine wave, and then tested utility power (JCP&L) which came back on.

The graphs are slightly different time scales (sorry!) which is why the waveforms look a bit different, but the power coming from the truck is CLEAN! Thanks Ford - nice job!

Thank you for confirming this. As an IT guy, this was a concern for me. Want to keep my gadgetry happy.

Now we need to find out of the inverter in the SunRun Home Integration System is also Pure Sine Wave or Modified.

Sorry to ask, but did you try all the outlets? Front-trunk, in-cab, and bed outlets? I would expect them to all be the same, but they are on different inverters are they not?

This was just the bed outlet, with almost no load.

Great news!

I was expecting a high frequency stepped sine wave but this looks so much cleaner!

No worries running a PC desktop off it!

Thanks for the confirmation. I assumed it was a good pure sine wave given I believe some power tools would require pure sine to work properly (not sure where I read that, though).

It is hard to tell for sure just how clean the bed output is from your image of the output.
Some modified sine waves are "cleaner" than others but not pure sinusoidal, and just dirty enough to cause sensitive equipment to malfunction.

Some other posts have noted a difference in the output from the front inverter and the bed inverter in trucks with two inverters (9.6kW ProPower) and found that the bed outlets cause malfunctions in things sensitive to "dirty" power (modified sinusoidal), like electric blankets.

Does your truck have the 9.6kW ProPower which uses 2 inverters?
