2024 Ford F150 Lightning Flash
I have driven a couple of ICE F150’s over the years. At the end of October 2024, I decided to give my SUV to one of my sons and I purchased a F150 Lightning Flash. To date, the experience has been better than I expected. I absolutely cannot believe how quiet it is inside, how smooth it accelerates with no transmission shifting, the amount of room it offers with the frunk and flat floorboard, and how ridiculously roller coaster quick it is. I also like the 360 degree camera system and the voice recognition works reasonably well when comparing to other vehicles I have owned. I have DCFC’d it six times at EA stations without issue on road trips. At home, I now have the Ford Charge Station Pro installed. I have had a couple of issues where the charger will generate an amber light and shutdown with an error message stating a charge station fault after 15 - 20 minutes into the charge. Please check if there is a problem with the power source or current charge station. Unplugging from the vehicle’s charge port and reconnecting has solved the issue. In my opinion, I believe if most people looking for a pickup truck would drop any preconceived negative thoughts about an EV truck and give it a test drive, they would be pleasantly surprised. I do understand there are limited range issues when towing and operating in cold weather, but in my case, neither issue is a factor based on intended usage and where I live.

Congrats and welcome to the Ford Family! We'd love to see a pic!

Welcome to the forum & congrat's on your new Lightning

Do you live is a very warm climate?

Did your electrician install the FCSP with limitations on the power circuit?

The Flash can only charge at 48 amps, he could have reduced the circuit design and adjusted the internal limiter.

Initial set up of the FCSP usually requires a couple of power cycles (switch off the circuit breaker) to cause any pending patches to implement. Hopefully that's the issue and it will be resolved as soon as the updates are applied.

This is the current version of the FCSP patch level.

Thank you TaxmanHog for your response. I live in Florida and the weather during charging has been between 60-80 degrees. The electrician did set the FCSP for a 48A output at my request and that output matches what I see on the Lightning display screens. The last two home charge sessions worked without error. I had cycled the power off & back on to the FCSP not knowing about the patch before the last two error free sessions. I just verified the FCSP has the latest patch. Not sure what version it had before cycling the power off & on. Hopefully, the issue is gone for good and if it is, I now know why.
