Same here, recently traveled and had only one slow charging station, most were full though. It was thanksgiving week, me a lot of nice people.
Yeah, Thanksgiving week was tougher in terms of use. Until infrastructure is built out we're always going to run into pinch points. I tried to plan my travel times a bit around what I anticipated would be the heaviest travel days.

I'm fortunate (I guess?) to live in an area of the country with fairly low EV adoption so far. It's giving us a chance for infrastructure to be ahead of the demand, so I absolutely recognize that it's not indicative of everyone's experience. But, as I said, EA has been really solid for me over the last 8 months of EV ownership.

Serious competition opening in February. 2024 is going to be rough for EA.

Too bad there is a need for a "Out of Service" banner (on their App?). Good on the "idle fees". Latest email:

In 2023, we experienced more EV charging sessions than ever before, a 110%* increase from 2022. Coming in 2024, we have many more charging enhancements and improvements to the charging experience planned to help you plug in, pay and get going quickly. Feedback from customers like you provides us with valuable input as we plan our upgrades.

We recently released updates to the Electrify America network and mobile app designed to elevate your charging experience.

What’s new and improved in our mobile app:
  • Improved real-time charger status in the Electrify America, Electrify Canada and various automotive brand mobile apps
  • Optimized Apple CarPlay station favorites for easier viewing
  • See when chargers are “Out of Service” in real-time with a new “Out of Service” banner
  • A simpler approach to reporting an issue by selecting defined topics from a drop-down menu
  • Improvements to the start charge functionality in our mobile app
We’ve also made several improvements across the network to enhance your experience, including:
  • Implemented idle fees at more locations across the country to minimize wait times
  • Increased number of Plug&Charge activation attempts for certain automotive brand customers to improve the automated enrollment process
  • Replaced power delivery components on chargers affected by low-power delivery
  • Pushed software updates to help address issues such as power fluctuations on certain chargers
  • Implemented more automated alerts in the Network Operations Center to improve response time for out of service chargers
  • Updated thermal management logic on the liquid-cooled cables to improve charging speed
Enhance your charging experience by using the Electrify America App while charging.
We value your feedback and encourage you to share your thoughts and suggestions. Your input helps us continue to refine and improve our services for EV drivers like you. If you love what we're doing, help us spread the word with a review on the iOS App Store or Google Play Store.

Another EA update, sounds great but need 1000s more:

“We’re thrilled to announce our first flagship charging station in San Francisco is opening on February 9th. Located at 928 Harrison Street in the SoMa (South of Market) neighborhood, it’s the first indoor flagship charging station of its kind from Electrify America.

Here are some of the amenities at this location:
  • 20 Hyper-fast chargers capable of speeds up to 350 kW
  • Two temperature-controlled customer lounge areas
  • Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi
  • Two restrooms with baby changing stations
  • 24/7 on-site security
Relax and recharge at our Harrison Street location, where high speeds and comfort meet.
928 Harrison Street, San Francisco, CA 94107
In addition to Harrison Street, Electrify America has two outdoor flagship locations in Baker and Santa Clara, CA with 10 or more chargers. These stations reflect our strategy to build larger charging stations and elevate the charging experience. Be on the lookout for new Electrify America flagship charging stations in metro areas nationwide.

By offering an elevated charging experience, we not only meet but exceed the needs of our drivers. Building stations in urban hubs like San Francisco allows us to cater to the needs of the community and help make EVs accessible for all – especially apartment-dwelling EV drivers.

Are you planning to plug in at our newest flagship location? Tag us on social media!”

I don't really care who owns the charging infrastructure, as long as it is available and reasonably priced.

I signed up for and used EVgo when I first bought the truck but canceled as soon as my home charger was installed. They kept billing me and sent me to collections for something like $9.00... something silly. The experience soured my opinion but would still use them if I had to.

Their "next generation" chargers are no more reliable than their old chargers as far as I can tell. But they've done a great job sucking up more state and federal subsidy cash to put them in.

EA recently took over the New York State funded "EvolvNY" network from Shell Recharge. They have "opened new locations" but these were all built with state money and would have opened whether EA, Shell, or Akbar & Jeff's Electron Hut were running the network. The real difference? Now the existing locations are poorly maintained and work half the time when under Shell they worked most of the time; and now there are some new locations with "next generation" EA chargers many of which had failed within days of the locations opening.

EA is the primary factor holding back electric vehicle adoption in the U.S.
The recently upgraded ones near me have the same issue, but it has worked for me. Yesterday, the screen was dead on the dispenser, but plug and charge worked as expected

I hope this has an effect on all the ID4s I see plugged in and left to charge to 100%
