With this adapter:

Is what I use in my current Ford, not Lightning. Is the Pin different?

It was roughly $60 total when I bought it

Does everything I need.

Hopefully all the hardware is there for that and they can just unlock it with a software update.
Here's the question, though - would you pay for it as a subscription? Most manufacturers are saying they'd like to do what Tesla does, but they want to make it a subscription service (either directly or through partners like OnStar).

I'd love to have TeslaCam functionality (sentry, general dashcam, etc.) available on the truck, but there's likely a processing power limitation right now and I can see Ford wanting to sell it as a service. So I'll probably be using third-party.

Good point. Everything is a subscription right now. I wonder how much Bluecruise is gonna cost once the 3 year trial runs out.

I just ordered one. I don't foresee getting a Tesla-like equivalent anytime soon so this will have to do. It's better than nothing. I agree with everyone on this thread - I think Ford will offer it as a subscription eventually but not with our current models. I bet it doesn't have the processing power nor storage capability to handle a dedicated dash cam feature.

No one will pay monthly for dash camera. It is a very bad idea.

Ford should just enable this, it is very simple. It is a reasonable request. Ford wants to follow Tesla, it is time to show whether Ford is truly learning.

Bluecruise subscription is understandable since Ford is keep pouring money to improve it.

Yep, just waiting for the day when I can punch in my destination and go to sleep.

Anyone who got the fitcamx have power issues? Mine won't power on. Granted, I was in a hurry and haven't had a chance to disconnect, reconnect everything. So could be a loose connection. But curious if I'm missing something. When I power on the truck, no power to the cam even though it's all connected properly as far as I can tell. Power button does nothing either. No lights.

I dont think you would see it as a dash cam only subscription, more like added to the hotspot. This way it could be accessed from the ford pass app.

I installed mine. When the truck is started, the led light comes on.

Nope, works fine. It does only power on when the truck is on though. Make sure the plugs are inserted all the way in.

Reseated all cables and it works just fine now! False alarm :) I figured that might be the case since I was short on time the first time I tried.

Any tips/settings that are preferred when using this cam? Thanks!

I just set it and forget. Nothing special in settings needed. I connect to it with WIFI every now and then just to make sure it's working, and it's been all good.
