Just sold back my '19 Ram 3500 6.7L ...

Well what can I say? I just sold back my '19 Ram 3500, which was purchased last year brand new... and I just sold it back for $3k more than what I paid.... why? well because I'm all in on this F-150! Why? Well let me tell you!

First, we have a Tesla 3 and I don't need to be sold on EV and how much fun they are to drive... Second, we have PV Solar at home and it have saved me thousands in fuel just from the Tesla charge vs gas...and we have plenty of capacity. Third, we didn't need a 3500 6.7L with 8'bed since we don't tow anything anymore ... Fourth, I'm in CA and the writing is (has been) on the wall - this state will do anything it can to end ICE/Diesel, even though I'm a HUGE fan of diesel trucks. Last, I believe we are going to see additional EV subsidies/incentives - especially again in CA - I like free money.

Anyway I know its going to be a wait, not expecting anything even in 2022. I have other vehicles and really excited to see what Ford delivers. Should be a fun journey reading the forum, watching more info becoming available and eventually taking delivery!

Sounds like everything lined up! I made the mistake of driving a Model 3 for the first time last month and immediately ordered one to replace my commute vehicle, 2013 Ford Explorer that has a ton of miles on it. I can’t wait to fill up my last tank of gas and pay .10 cent Kw to fill up an 85 Kw battery that will go over 300 miles. Also have a vin for a Bronco to be built this summer and that will be my weekend vehicle which won’t accumulate that many miles.

After driving (and tearing down) many EVs for my job, I loved driving the Bolt and hated driving the Model 3. But then again, I'm old and obese, so getting down to the ground to get in the Model 3 may be why I hated it.

Why did you chose the ford over the Tesla? Just curious as a owner of both vehicles. 3, X and powerboost F150.

I didn't choose it over the Tesla. We are owners of a Tesla 3 (dual motor awd) so I meant that having owned an EV - plus having solar - I didn't need convinced that an EV is viable. Not needing the diesel truck, but still wanting a truck and being able to wait, the F150 is promising. So I was comfortable selling the Ram while the market tilts in my favor, instead of the dealer, unlikely to see that scenario play out 12-18 months from now.

Looking forward to eventually owning the F-150 Lightning. I was willing to put down a reservation on the Tesla Cybertruck as well and there is some very interesting technology they are starting to unveil. Competition is a wonderful thing for consumers!

That was smart! I thought about selling the powerboost. I've had a ton of issues with it. Getting it serviced has been painful! We also have the 3 performance and X. Ordered the Cybertruck expecting a long wait but should be worth it. After the ford experience with just a hybrid. I can't imagine what a mess the Lightning might be.

I think you are wise! Great deal to get out of the diesel.

My PowerBoost has been flawless and love the truck but I did reserve a Lightening.

I've owned several hybrids all the way back at least 15 years. An EV of course is different and has some limitations that I feel will really start falling away quickly now. More charging stations going up at a fast rate now. They are improving the battery tech almost daily also.

I think I will still wait for the Solid State batteries to arrive for my EV purchase. They are just way to superior over the Lithium version and it is looking good for them to start showing up around 2024 or so, maybe a little sooner.

I would hate to have just purchased a $90k vehicle and the next year or two the SSB shows up. Would kill the value of Lithium versions.

I like seeing the extending an increasing the tax credit for sure!

I'm on my second BEV. I sincerely doubt we'll see solid state in a consumer vehicle before 2025 at the soonest. There will be battery improvements along the way though. In the meantime, I'll have stopped burning gas for a few years. Lightning can't strike soon enough for me!

Toyota has a R&D working model that will be reviled this summer. They seem to have developed a fix for the dendrite issue. Nano technology coating to prevent the dendrites, something like a 300,000 mile battery life. Ford is heavy in R&D and many others with the SSB tech.

The problem may be the range towing near the limits with the lithium tech, range could drop below 100 miles.

Should have a better idea in a year or so how long it will take before they show up on the market, will be a real game changer.

I did read where Lithium batteries are dropping in price very quickly. Next year I read we could see electric cars for the same price as gas after the tax credit is applied.
