I took my truck in last week to diagnose a problem with the front parking sensor intermittently reporting it was blocked. The dealer had the car for 2 days, says they couldn’t figure out the problem and is waiting for Ford to exam the data. I took the truck back, however, they must have done something with the lane keep system. It can no longer detect the lane and blue cruise is not working as a result.

Additionally, I had ask the dealer to fix a problem with the PAAK not working. The dealer said everything should work. It doesn’t work.

This is my second time at this dealer and the last time they said they resolved a recall issue with the TPMS and it wasn’t done correctly. I had to eventually spend hours on the phone with ford to have them push the update to the lightning to resolve.

I’m afraid to go back to the dealer as I’m not too confident that they will fix this. Is there any reliable ford dealer in Long Island NY that you would recommend?

thanks.

I think things like this will continue to grow as vehicles become more and more rolling computers with hundreds of sensors. We had to replace the windshield in my wife's 2019 car this week. Car has some level of lane keep/assist and other sensor functions. As part of the windshield replacement, they needed to do a "recalibration" of the sensors, with no guarantee that all functionality originally there would continue to work. It also required us to go to their shop rather than having a van replace the windshield in our driveway. Made me wonder how all of this will work going forward as vehicles become more and more autonomous.

Did they accidently hit the button on the steering wheel to turn it off?

Those sensors are pretty simple, I'd think they'd just replace it and everyone could move on with life. What else could it be?

Recalibrating the 360 view is a huge pain.

No, that’s the first thing I checked. When I’m on the highway, if I hug a line or go slight on a line, the lane assist circle starts to show but doesn’t hold. Additionally, I am getting pre-collision alert when I approach a car to my left quickly.

It's really hard to find a good mechanic these days let alone a good dealer. The talent pool isn't there, most techs just blindly follow manuals and can't think independently. I am so lucky to have a great dealer, thank you Belanger Ford!

Update - I finally took my truck to a new dealers last month, Sayville Ford. While they took 2 weeks to fix, they were working on the truck the whole time and kept communicating the status. They did multiple programming and replaced several parts including the IPMA camera. Very happy with the service and finally have lane keep, hands-free driving working.
