Well I hooked up my battery charger to the truck and everything came on like it should. SO it definitely a problem with the 12v battery.
After I put my 12v battery on the charger everything has been working fine. I also took it to Autozone and had them check the battery and they say it was in good health.

Not sure why it did this unless it had something to do with the Tesla Plug and Charge update. I did this update the day before and hadn't drove it any since I did the update.

Has anyone been able to resolve this yet?

I had the exact same set of error messages that showed up in my truck the Sunday before Memorial day. I had Ford roadside assistance come (who were not helpful at all). I ended up calling AAA who spent an hour and a half with me trying to help me figure out what to do after the 12 V battery would not jump. It had a full charge in it and everything seemed to be fine except for the error codes.

Tuesday morning, I had to have the truck flatbedded to my local dealership, and after two days of waiting for an appointment they finally looked at it only to tell me that these new Lightning trucks are tricky and they don’t know what to do. They’re supposed to call an engineer next week. I’m weary that I am in for a long wait. I hope the enginners they are calling are the same ones that monitor this forum.

If anyone had a successful resolution, please post it so I might be able to get to my answer quicker.

Thanks!

Hi there, Bart. This battery concern doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your Lightning truck. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end. Quick update: The truck has been at the dealership for a bit over a week. They contacted the Ford engineers and had them come down to look at it. Ford also reached out via this forum and is working behind the scenes as well.

So far, it looks like an ABS Electronics module, which is on backorder but Ford is helping to get one out next week as a priority.

I have to say that I am impressed that Ford, as the manufacturer, is stepping up. Thank you!

I'll keep this posted to make sure that the solution is posted here.

I had a really strange error occur yesterday with my Lightning and was curious if anyone else has run into this.

Prior to leaving work yesterday, I started my truck using the FordPass app about 10-15 minutes ahead of time to pre-condition, which is what I do every day. When I got in the truck and tried to start it, a whole cluster of error messages and pings started going off and the truck would not start. "Stop safely now", "Service AdvanceTrac" & Pre-Collision Assist not available" all flashed on the screen while the truck wasn't moving. The truck would only go into accessory mode.

I turned it off and tried to start the truck again 2-3 more times with the same issue and was convinced I was going to have to call the dealership and get it towed. Fortunately, on my last attempt, the truck started, and no errors or pings.

I took a video and recorded the errors because I thought I was going to need to send it to the dealership when they tried to troubleshoot the issue. I provided some screenshots below of the errors that popped up consecutively one after another until eventually, the truck started.

Because I use PAAK exclusively, this is one of my biggest fears as an EV owner; getting stranded and not being able to do anything about it. I was fortunate in the fact that if the truck wouldn't start at least I was at work and close to home, it would have been a pain and very annoying, but ultimately manageable to get fixed and on my way since I'm close to my local dealership. But if I were traveling long distances, camping, visiting distant relatives, etc. it could've been a whole lot worse.

I know there's always a chance of running into issues, even with ICE vehicles those things can happen, but given the Lightning and EVs are somewhat new to Ford I don't think it's as straightforward how to troubleshoot yourself and the dealerships are seeing these types of issues for the first time as well which makes it difficult for them to diagnose as fast as they'd be able to an ICE vehicle. I love all the tech that these vehicles offer and are obviously a huge selling point, but I do think it can be a bit of a double edge sword when it comes to the higher probability of a small glitch related to the tech could potentially leave you stranded.

Wanted to share to see if anyone else has any idea of what happened and also to help others who might run into this issue in the future.

This just happened to me. Did you ever have the issue again?

No, it happened the one time then never happened again. Not sure if this was resolved one of the times I took to the dealership to have maintenance done or just a random thing?
