of course it is slow. I am thinking maybe 4 5 to 5 miles range gain per hour. but it is enough to reach home or a station in the event of a mis-calculation. I don't always carry it. There are times however like going to the lake where I am out on the boat all day or going to an obscure place in arizona where it is very valuable.
If it's 120v then it's around 2 miles of range per hour. 120v maxes out at 12a, it ends up being close to 1kw effective to the battery, or 1 kwh per hour...

A 5.5 kW 120 v generator using the Mobile charger, will be painfully slow as you refill that tiny gas tank. A 240 v generator can achieve the slowest charging shown on Ford's chart.

I believe I have less than a 20 A charger for the generator. the ford mobile charger at 240v is too much for the generator. This is is a plan to get me out of a bind where home or stations are far apart. + camping, boating, or overnight stays were there is no charge infrastructure. I didn't want to start a discussion. It works for me. It does not work for everyone.

For a meaningful charge you need to keep it on all night, right? Better than being DOA.
Yep, generally not looking for a meaningful charge. Just enough to get home or to my destination.

240 V with a matched charger of about 4.2 KW to match the de-ration I need for altitude. its about 4.2 KW / hour.

If your generator does 240v then make a 5-15 to 240v extension cord. The Ford mobile charger will then do 12a at 240v (2.8kw) instead of 30a at 240v (1.4kw).

I bought a matched charger that handles about 4.2KW or 17A to match the generator after altitude and continuous runtime deration. My problem is getting the range calculation right when I constantly climb the truck up and down 5000 foot elevation changes.

If it works for you that’s all that matters.

I was truly interested if this was a viable solution (not that I have much range anxiety).

I just plan to have chargers on my route and never had an issue but I liin the northeast and things are closer and perhaps chargers more plentiful.
