We bought this product for our Mustang two winters ago and couldn't be happier. I just ordered the Lightning-specific one as well. The nice thing about these is that they protect the hinge and clasp from ice and they don't rely on magnets or other heavy objects. It's stayed on the car in high winds and heavy snows.

My review for the Mustang version:

I bought the kit in the op a while ago- it was backordered at the time. It arrived a couple days ago. I used it last night, during a typical S Florida deluge of precipitation.
It worked great. Not sure it was worth the 80 bucks, but worth it with free points and $15 bucks shipping.

Have you seen the comments about Tesla not wanting folks to use the "wet rag technique" of keeping the charger handle cooler to increase the charging rate?
Kyle of Out of Spec did a Youtube on this.
So I wonder if there are any 3D printable covers that would clip over the charger port door that could act as a sunshield (white or silver?) to the handle and NACS adapter (~12" length out from port?).

I actually started the idea with a big cover. It hooks onto the charge port door and covers the handle. The problem is that you need a very large printer to do it in one piece. I printed one on the Prusa XL with TPU around the edges, the rest is PETG. I still have the files, so I uploaded them here for you. https://makerworld.com/en/models/1549705-f150-lightning-weather-cover-2

That color is electric blue PETG from Polymaker.

I dont think that PETG or ASA would scratch the paint, but I added some TPU in Prusa Slicer along the edges just to be on the safe side. Might as well go all the way if you have more than one toolhead.
