I Macgyver’d this weather cover for my charge port door with a $10 flex gooseneck from Amazon and a piece of plexiglass. I’m going to add a piece weather strip too.

Did you consider having it attach to the charging cable handle vs. the charging door? I think on the Mach-E people keep losing the door in carwashes and stuff, so I'd be a bit afraid of adding weight to the door once snow piles up on the plaxiglas?

Maybe we could get someone to 3d print us an A-Frame version of this to hook to the charging handle on a gooseneck. I like the weather stripping idea on the truck edge.

I haven't had to deal with snow/ice yet, but has anyone tried putting a tarp or something similar in the frunk with enough sticking out to hang down over the charging door? It seems like you could use a velcro tie wrap to attach it to the charging cable.

So I used a very heavy gauge black plastic trash bag and 2 spring loaded clamps, one around the power cord and on on the hinged door. it was large enough to shut part into the truck driver door and into the frunk. Worked like a charm during some very cold, wet, snowy conditions. Don't know if it would stand up to white out or gale force winds but worked well for this. BTW does anyone know what type of grease or lube to use on the rubber gasket for the port to keep it from freezing? Silicone or something else? Thanks

This is a cool idea. I think a mod I will attempt is to make an angled top to this so any snow to come would (hopefully) slide off the sloped side. Thanks for the idea

I just throw a hand towel over the charge door/J1772 connector... it takes the rain/snow/ice instead of the charge port...

I use this Canadian solution... the Lightning is my 2d EV and I found this works well on any EV with the charging port relatively close to the wiper stalks. it's very easy to attach, to fold away and by design it's practically unbreakable.

"Ma capuche" means "my hood(ie)" in French.
