New member here, starting to do the research on buying a used Lightning and have a couple questions. I have seen several really low mileage 23's for sale. One of them states the title is "lemon". I'm not sure exactly what that means, is there a way to get a detailed breakdown of why it is titled lemon?
Thanks in advance

Search for "lemon" on this forum. Just a guess, but it is likely someone who's truck ended up in the shop waiting for months to have a battery module replaced. Some have had good fortune and no problems after this repair and some have had repeat issues. The repair is covered under warranty but repair times are not great at most places.

It was turned in by the original owner with defects that were not timely resolved, hopefully that is resolved and this truck is good now!

Lemon really just means that the manufacturer bought the vehicle back, and made any necessary repairs or changes to bring it back to the dealer floor. The prior owner may have been given the option to have the repairs and keep the truck, but they may have got cold feet and decided to give the truck back to Ford. It no doubt was also a long, long wait to get to this point.

I just bought a Chevy BOLT that had a similar 'buy back' from Chevrolet, due to the battery replacement issues they had with prior Bolt year models. It sounds like the prior owner, who had already put many thousands of miles on the car to that point, received the option from Chevy to replace the battery, but did not want to 'chance' a battery replacement, and therefore Chevrolet 'bought back' the car.
This car has no 'salvage', 'Lemon', or 'rebuilt' title... it is simply a Clear Title. There is even a sticker on the inside driver door frame that says that the car was a repurchase from the factory, and it remains with a Clear Title.
Chevrolet also provides me an extended full 12 month WARRANTY on the car, as well as a Brand New BATTERY, And a full 8 Year/100,000 mile warranty for it. I'm also receiving the full $4,000 Tax Credit, which is now available for many used EVs, purchased from a dealer, over two model years old, and with a sale price of $25,000 or less.

LEMON LAWS are really just to protect the public from repairs and corrections that don't sit well with a new owner, taking too long to rectify, etc.
