what is the 'this' that you speak of?

regardless, that is what Insurance is for, if the damage is excessive and you believe you need to fix out, outside of any remedy you have, yourself.
Generally, if you want to go the insurance route, which would be Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist, or even Collision, at least in the U.S., you would need a police Accident Report, more than likely.

and, yes, there are times when anyone, whether intentional or not, may have an accident or 'boo boo' and not want to make a federal case of their own about it. Someone who causes the accident tends to say 'it's nothing', while the owner, who now feels someone has 'done them wrong', wants 'full' reconciliation, at ANY cost(!), to 'fix' the damage. It never feels good.

Ironically the very same "it's nothing" people turn into the "you've done me wrong" people the second it happens to them.

as for "this" - this doesn't look flush to the trim anymore.
Bit weird looking damage to have been caused by another vehicle unless it's from a trailer or something (someone nearly clipped me the other day while they're backing up with little or no clue of their surroundings even though I had been parked there the whole time as they pulled in).

yeah I had someone back into me while I was sitting in the truck charging in a mall parking lot, they just took off... damage looks like that but it's on the passenger side right where the rear bumper starts... it was another truck and their trailer hitch hit, luckily no scratch or anything so I just let it be.
