Option to turn off the power tailgate ?

Is there an Option to turn off the power tailgate ?

Looking to see about Disabling the button on the key fob and the dashboard, so that the tailgate isn’t accidentally opened, ( in my case to avoid the tailgate from banging into a trailer hitch mounted bike rack).

There is an option to turn off the power tailgate and revert to manual. There is a toggle switch under controls on the sync 4 screen

thanks for the tip. I hadn’t seen that before in the controls menu.

I tried it and it seemed to work fine for disabling the tailgate opening button on the dash….but not on the key fob.

when I tested it, the key fob overrode the setting selection to manual that I had made for the tailgate in the menu.

it’s the key fob I am concerned about the most, in accidentally hitting the wrong button on it, and having the tailgate open up into my bike rack.

anything I could be doing wrong?

or is there another disable setting specifically for the key fob ?

Not sure if it works since I don’t have a power tailgate. But there is a Forscan option to disable the remote button on 14 gen trucks.

operator error happens believe it or not.

having an option in the menu to disable the power tailgate seems to indicate there’s others who have a similar desire to shut off that feature for whatever reason.

Maybe I’m a fat fingered klutz, but it’s happened.

A quick double click on the wrong button on the key fob that has so many buttons (5?) happens in my world,
especially if the key fob is in the hands of my wife or anyone else who is not accustomed to a frunk button and a tailgate button. Especially in the dark too.

What seems strange is that you can choose to have manual tailgate selected,
but the truck seems to reset to the power tailgate option after some period of time.

That doesn’t happen if you select one pedal drive mode, which remains in place until you change it, but the power tailgate selection button does not “stick”.

I think the reason that the powered tailgate can be disabled is for when you're driving with it down. It can bounce, and if it bounced too much then it might auto close.

It also would be so you can't open it when you know something is in the way, and it may not sense that.

yeah that’s my dilemma, a bike rack that the sensors don’t sense, and so the truck would lower the tailgate right into it, if the power tailgate were accidentally activated, damaging both the tailgate and the bike rack.

Quick solution is a large pool noodle.I cut one for my new trailer hitch but the receiver is just long enough it misses.
