Great news, thanks for the update. Did your rear camera appear to work ok for general backup? Will mention that when I bring mine in. Going to try one more time with some 180 degree turns just so I can tell them I followed ALL of the instructions.

Yes my rear camera worked well for backing. I never noticed a problem with it.
Good Luck!

OMG.

Before I brought my truck into the dealer to have them look for a trailer calibration problem, I decided to read the ownerā€™s manual (.pdf) further. It did make a statement that for longer trailers (mine is a 16ā€™ flat bed car hauler, about 20ā€™ in overall length) when you were told to perform a turn you may need to go 90 or a full 180 degrees. So, prior to bringing the truck to the dealer, I thought I would give it one more college try. Sure enough, this afternoon I went to the same large Costco parking lot and after a few sharp turns and a few relatively short straight drives calibration completed!!!

I later then tried the trailer assist functions which I was familiar with from my 2019 F-150 and all of the backup controls seem to work just fine. I had read where some others making long figure eights also were able to calibrate. I have a second 20ā€™ boat trailer which I also had calibrated to my 2019 F-150 and will give it a try later this spring.

Three questions for those that success with Ford Backup Assist calibration:
1) Was anybody using one-pedal driving mode at the time?
2) Did you get a notice that your cross-traffic alert was disable when the trailer was connected?
3) Did you configure your trailer at the time of calibration, or did you have a trailer pre-set in your system already?
Thanks,
Rod
P.S. I canā€™t seem to get out of ā€œDrive strait forward to calibrate.ā€œ to ā€œ:System Calibratingā€¦ā€ hell. I think itā€™s a software issue, but not sure what it might be.

I tried both modes.

2) Did you get a notice that your cross-traffic alert was disable when the trailer was connected?

yes

3) Did you configure your trailer at the time of calibration, or did you have a trailer pre-set in your system already?

tried both ways

Thanks,
Rod

Exactly the problem I had. Had to take it to the dealer. I had an error I wasnā€™t aware of. They had to clear the error & did some programming. Works like it should now. I wasted hours trying to calibrate it.

1. Yes, 2. yes, 3. preset. Had the same problem with drive straight and brief "calibratin", then drive straight. Again, when I did more aggressive turns ... 180 degrees ... it calibrated pretty quickly and assist function worked great. Was going to take it to the dealer to see if I also had the "error", but canceled my appointment ... good luck.

I tried figure 8's, figure 16's etc etc. I had a wide open parking area at county fair grounds but no luck. I tried holding my head a certain way & tried about everything conceivable with no luck. Every truck may have a different issue? Good luck!

Thanks guys. Will try one more time (figure 8s and more aggressive turns) and if that doesnā€™t work. Iā€™ll make an appointment at the Stealer.

Iā€™d just like to add here that Iā€™ve not been able to configure 2 separate trailers with the stickers. I never get out of the ā€œdrive straightā€ phase. With one trailer (an 18ft long dovetail car hauler), I drove straight at 5 mph for MILES, thinking maybe i just needed to hit a tiny patch of 100% smooth pavement so the empty trailer didnā€™t bounce around.

I have used the side backup camera view when backing up our camper. I just exited the setup window when it prompts. It was useful when parking the trailer in the barn for the winter.

In the spring, I plan on showing up at the dealer with our camper trailer in tow, and see if they can set it up.

In the mean time, itā€™d be great if Ford could let us use some of the backup camera views without nagging you to complete setting up a trailer. Even though I paid for it, Iā€™ve got no interest in trying to set up the pro backup trailer assist for every trailer I hook up to. Too much hassle. But I do want some of the nice camera views it can do.

One feature I love is the hitch assist. Lining up a trailer is like magic now.
