Nice thing about the FitCamx is It looks "Factory", at least the front camera does . . .

...Yeah, but being on my second FitCamX, I will say that it's still far from perfect. Video quality is just OK, on par with any of the decent dashcams out there as they're all just potatoes anyway. Date/time never matches up because it preserves nothing other than static settings when the vehicle shuts down and there's no power. It would be nice if there was a good battery backup kit with parking mode recording for it. It's nice that the FitCamX installs mostly seamlessly.

The biggest problem with all these cameras is the insane amount of data compression they use for encoding their video. When 1TB+ SD cards are dirt cheap these days, it would be nice if they could ease up a bit on the compression and give us much better recorded quality. Of course, the lenses and internal processing are also a limiting factor that will lose measurable resolution for us. But I think there would be a market for higher quality, even if it came at a bit higher price.

We're waiting on our '25 Mach-E and it still irks me that Ford and other legacy automakers are not moving to incorporate these features as Tesla, Rivian and the other EV companies are. I get the domestic auto industry is an old-boy's club of sorts and tech features mystify them.. But in the coming years not having integrated cameras and recording is going to start negatively impacting their sales more than they probably realize. We're willing to take our upcoming Mach-E order with the CCS port, slow 400V charging and no onboard camera recording... But this will be the last vehicle I buy with such restrictions. First world problem for sure, but when BMW/MINI, who can't seem to figure out how to make a good BEV drivetrain, can integrate dash cam and parking/sentry recording on their 2025 models, not to mention Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, Polestar, BYD, Xiaom, VW with their upcoming Porsche & Scout offerings, and others all doing it, Ford et. al, need to get with the program. I fear that our US automakers are going to try and hide behind the upcoming tariffs and other government protections while the Foreign automakers outpace them. ...Seems like we've been through this before. It didn't work out well back then.
