Hey everyone. I unfortunately have to replace one of my headlight due to damage to the lense. I found a new one, same part number, locally for a good price. Do I need to program the new light for all the functions to work? Can I just install the module from my old light on the new light? I’m not very tech savvy and I’ve never messed with for scan so I’m hoping avoid having to program the light.
TIA

No idea. Replace the light and report back how it goes. If additional software work is needed I bet someone here can walk you through it.

Should be plug and play if you're replacing like for like and is the entire housing. You may need to level the beam though. I had my passenger side headlight replaced due to an oopsie and works fine other than the beam being slightly too low. I haven't adjusted it yet.

It will need programming.

I just had one replaced last month due to an accident and the body shop had to have a tech come in and program the light to make it work. It was an OEM headlight and still needed to be programmed.

The extra cost of technology...

I just checked the shop manual and it looks like programming is only needed if you are also replacing the LDCM (Lighting Driver Control Module A/B). It seems to be attached to the headlamp (part shaded in yellow).

So if you can transfer that module over you should be fine. Kind of like the tail light - I was able to transfer the old BLIS module over.

Says you have to remove front bumper and frunk to replace headlight!

Interesting! So the module on my old light must have been damaged then.

More likely they can't buy just the light. On the tail light, Ford doesn't sell the light without the BLIS module.

So once they have the assembly, probably easier and less risk if they just have a tech program it rather attempt a swap. But DIY'ers can save a few bucks.
