Rooftop Camping Setup -- Naturnest RTT

Scooped up a Naturnest RTT to do some adventuring. Having the built in electric generator sure does make camping extra nice! Did some solo camping in Hoosier National Forest and had a great time. Coming from my Model Y…it sure is easier to do this kind of stuff with a truck.

Im also attaching a night timedrive way pic and some of the ladder I built to get this 180lb box on the bars. Not nearly as bad as it looks, but I can do it solo with no real struggles.

Bed rack and cover are from an Amazon seller under the brand name bestwyll. Great quality stuff if you are in the market for it!

Considering this exact tent. Looks like you have a tonneau cover too. What is your rack you are using? I’m looking to start with the rack then get the tent in the spring.

The tent is solid! Customer support is great as well. Since the rack bars are wider than what is included in the tent kit, I asked if bamacar if they could send bigger ones and they did! I purchased the tent on amazon.

As for the rack, also scooped it up on Amazon. Bought one, got two. If you live in the midwest, I'd cut a helluva good deal on it since it's currently in the box and occupying my winter parking spot in the garage Otherwise, you can scoop it up off of Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Bestwyll-Tj-b-Universal-Heavy-fruck/dp/B0BNG27J77. The cover is by the same manufacturer and they pair up really nice.

Dang I’m in Utah…is it compatible with any tonneau cover that has t slots?? Thanks for the info!!!!

Yeah, I’d imagine it’s compatible with any t slot cover. Even if you don’t have t slots, it’ll come with hardware to mount with clamps. Since I had the cover already, I got a to scrap a lot of aluminum clamps

Sounds like a road trip opportunity to me

Nice setup.

I have a similar setup with my elevate racks and Thule Tepui tent. My wife hated having to climb down the ladder to go use the bathroom in the middle of the night.

I then get low profile yakima rack and put the tent on top of that so it's much closer to the ground and even still she hates that ladder - lol. I guess north of 50 years old I need to start thinking of a different solution - camper. She was happy the bed based tent though. Plus we have a furry friend but he usually bunks with the kids on a ground tent.

I'm interested in the Tepui as well.. can you link the Elevate racks you used? I'm hoping it's the ones with the T-bolts since my tonneau cover already has the T-rail. Is it hard to install the Tepui on them?

I had it on the elevate racks but that made the tent quite high so I switched to low profile Yakima racks that fit in the t-rails. The tent is now much lower to the ground (approx 6” or so above my tonneau).

yes, I think I would go with the lower height too, which Yakima racks did you use? I'm also looking for the t-rails compatible one

great thank you, so I'm looking at the Thule Tepui, and it seems to have a sideways entrance, did you mount it in a way that the entrance comes out the back of the bed?

I have mounted it to come from the side. I guess you could do it towards the bed but when you flip over tepui the ladder may interfere with the tailgate.
