This is probably a bit of an odd question for an EV forum, but we are looking to occasionally transport a 20L / 5 gallon Wavian gasoline jerry can in our truck bed on smooth highway pavement (so no off-road securing needed).

Not looking to install a permanent heavy duty metal bracket with lock of molle system. Just something inexpensive and quick to add/remove so that I know the can is not gonna bang around / tip over under our tonneau cover.

Was wondering if there was something that might work well with the box link attachment? Maybe a couple short cinch straps: one to go horizontally around the body, and another through the handles.?

Other suggestions?

Thanks 🙏

In the past I have run a ratchet strap around the can to hold it upright against the box link point. I also like running a 2x6 across the back of the bed in the slot close to the rear edge of the wheel wells to keep things from sliding forward.

I pretty much do the same as Broncoaz when I pick up diesel for the tractor. One strap at the top and one at the bottom.
I also stole one of my wife's yoga mats that I lay across the back of the bed to prevent the container, and any other items from sliding.

i ordered this set in 48“ to secure horizontally via a box link anchor, with another strap going through the box link and the handle of the can. I also like the yoga mat idea. Will report back on how it goes.

Strap or bungie through the can handle to the upper anchor point or stake pocket to hold it up and keep it from sliding around.
