Honestly this ^

I know I'd love to see more trip reports.
Me too.

But as you know, the effort involved isn't just writing a forum post. It's recording the details and double-checking them. It's recreating or estimating details when you forgot to record. It's taking photos that are interesting to the report. It's trying to keep real-time notes. It's doing all of that, writing it up, editing it, posting it....

And then being told, in so many words, that all that unpaid work wasn't worth the effort because someone, two years ago, once had a bad experience at one of the chargers you went to. Or that they want to drive 90 mph in a 65 zone and it's totally unreasonable for you to drive "only" 73 mph in a 75 zone. Or that it's cold where they are so it's "impossible" to road trip anywhere (or at least irrelevant if you can do it).

We're going from the northern Arizona area to Moab, UT soon. It's not a long road trip---only about 700 to 800 miles round trip, depending on how much we play---but we'll have the opportunity to play in the sand a bit.

[edited to finish this thought]

This is through one of the literal and figurative charging deserts, but I don't expect any issues. We could likely make it from home to our hotel in Moab in without stopping (it's about 320 miles), but we like to walk around and go to the restroom, so we'll stop at least once. I'll try to do a write-up.

I bought my lightning from the Ford dealer in Moab. Overall a good experience, but had a few hiccups that needed escalation to get sorted out. I originally was thinking about driving up from Tucson to trade in and drive the truck back. But I was completely new to EV's and like you mentioned, there aren't a lot of options to charge. I ended up shipping it down.

I am very interested to hear how the trip goes. I'd still like to visit the area for vacation at some point. Even just a summary report with no details would be awesome. :)

A buddy of mine borrowed our Mustang to drive to Denver and went through the Diné Nation and through Moab. I didn't get a reliable report from him, but it was an entirely successful trip with no issues. The Mustang has a slightly lower range than our Lightning. I don't remember if we had the NACS adapter or if he used it on that trip.

We used to go to Moab at least twice a year when we lived in Tucson. Sadly, now that we're 4-5 hours closer, we go less often... It's become far busier over the past 15 years than it was back in the day, so that's part of it. It'll be nice to get back.

I'll do my best to provide a good report. Unless we do some good offroading, it may be pretty sparse since there's really only need for one stop---in Kayenta---otherwise we'll likely be charging on L2 while we're there.

We go down to Tucson a couple times a year as well. There are so many charging stations along the 17 and 10 or through Globe and Payson that we've never had an issue getting there or back.
