What are the holes on the stake pocket for? What fastener might work best to attach something using the hole? Do some aftermarket devices attach there, bed extender?

Bolts, with nuts and washers, you have to remove the taillight to access the backside. These holes are just simple holes for bolting in accessories.

There are a couple different brands/styles to choose from and are specific for right or left side of the truck bed.

This is what I order the box is very nice, holds tools, hitches, straps, rope, bungee cords, and extra towels and gloves.

As the reviews note, the bracket ok the bed is not perfect aligned. It is easy to bend a bit and open up the holes for some adjustment with minimal effort. Took me less then 20 min to install this.
