2-16-24 SOLVED! Thanks to 'The UNC'
----------
Maybe someone knows what this part is.

Story: the other day, I opened 12v battery access door, and found this part just sitting up next to the battery; not connected to anything.

Does anybody know where this part goes, or what it is?

Inside it says, 3003167, E-1768, >PP-GF20<

I've tried to find exploded view around the frunk, but haven't been able to locate it.

Looks like plastic trim from the wheel well area.

Man, I don't know. I'm waiting on one of the Ford dealers online to send me a link to the Frunk exploded views so I can see if there is anything similar I can spot.

If your Lightning is one of the first ones produced in 2022, that is the dust cover they inadvertently left in that compartment. That cover was used for the original bigger 12V battery that always stayed charged from the truck's main battery pack so it would never get too low to affect any electronic issue. It was also the one that automatically allowed all successful updates without needing a sensor to validate the charge. I also believe with that better higher level original test battery, the charge level could be shown on the main 15" screen. MAYBE. :)

Hmm, maybe. Yes, mine was first wave. Thanks for the idea!

I just looked at my 23 and it has that piece right above the LVB door... looks like maybe to catch water from the "gutter"that runs behind the trunk hood. Thinking if you got your head inside the LVB hole and looked up, you might see where the plastic pins live.

Oh man, now we're talking... would you be so kind to shove your phone in there and get a vid or photos?!?!?! I super appreciate it!!! How is it connected, with plastic snap pins?

Here you go-
I had a chance to really look at that piece when I had to raise the Frunk tub to upgrade my emergency Frunk release glow in the dark assembly (upgraded to a 2024 part) You might have to remove the Frunk liner to get to this piece which was pretty simple (10 bolts and 1 wiring plug)

It looks to me that this piece catches water that might get into the hood gasket to keep away from the battery. It's right there. Red arrow shows the side of the part. Yes, plastic push pins hold it in and mine is pretty loose up there-

Hope this helps!

Brett!!!!! Thank you so much! Mystery solved, and you are 100% correct! Can't thank you enough!

I can see the two holes, and sure enough, matches up!

It went well, only bumped my bald head on the sharper corner once :) . I had some plastic push pins in the garage, so used them, one facing in, and one facing out, just in case. Let's hope it stays in place this time!
