Just wanted to post about towing In “Cold” weather. It was 17 this morning / high around 45. Yesterday the high was 35

one of our work trucks went down with a brake issue - it hauls a 7k trailer. So we hooked it up to the ER lightning and put it on tow/haul. 100% charge it showed 143 mile range this morning. . The service area is around 50-80 miles per day. It’s holding steady within the range . Right now shows 83 miles left. at 67% charge. The truck also has a 2” lift and 34.8 tires on it so I think I’m pretty satisfied overall for weather and added weight ect.

Stupid question but would love some real life feedback. - does anyone have a standard range truck they tow regularly and will
A SR get the same /close to the distance towing (100 ish) vs a ER or will the ER get more towing range? Surely a SR wouldn’t get 65 miles per charge towing ?

Considering looking for a pro SR if it can get over 100 miles per charge towing roughly 7 k when we replace a fleet vehicle because we already got the charging infrastructure.

The SR has a 98kWh battery vs. the 131kWh battery on the ER. Simple math. Take your ER range and multiply by 75%. That will be close, may be slightly different due to Max Tow cooling systems also.

Right now shows 83 miles left. at 67% charge.
That's projecting a 0.95 MPK on the ER based on remaining capacity.

With the SR you might get might get 93 miles at 100% to zero. {98*.95}

You have other factors I'd consider: road conditions, elevation changes, high wind, and of course temperature changes. My experience in high head wind was shockingly terrible to my winter range.

some of this will be affected less by the WEIGHT you mention, 7,000lbs, and more about the SIZE/HEIGHT type of the trailer. My PRO tows our typical Camper, weighing 3,000lbs, up to about 140miles max on a single charge. That doesn't mean you might tow a much heavier trailer that far, but if your trailer you mention is a 'utility' trailer type, with little to no 'headwind' affect, I suspect you might see some similar numbers - 125-135 with conservative driving, good temps, flat terrain, etc.

Good point. It’s an open trailer that isn’t very tall. Also agree with wind. Luckily not too windy this week but without pulling. Trailer last week- just me using it as I usually do could see a difference in 35 degree conditions

I will
Say this - with a 2” lift - 34.8’ heavy A/T to tow a 7k trailer the crew started at 143 this morning and got back to the shop with 70 miles left so my guess is a SR without a lift and large tires might be pretty close to those numbers???
