An artifact of the larger gaps in the tread I suppose? Is this a common thing among other all terrain tires? I don't have any experience in this realm.
Yeah, I think that's exactly what it is. I had these tires on my old truck and nevery noticed it but that truck was a 2500 with a leveling kit so it was a bit taller. These are definitely living up to this feature:

Hopefully they consider making 18" wheel sizes since the Chevrolet EV truck will now come with 18" wheels on the lower trims
They are available now in 18". I see them in stock at Summit and Simple Tire.

Just mounted the Open Country AT III EV, 275/65/R20, in 116H (not the E rated tire).

Running them at the factory PSI of 36, per Toyo's input.

Have to say, 50 miles or so in, and they are super quiet with no noticeable difference in handling or ride comfort. And they look great. So far so good.

Will see what the range impact winds up being, 800 mile road trip next month.

awesome, great that they offer them in that size, I have the Nitto recons P275/65/20 and they are really good but when they wear down I might go with these given that they are EV specific (maybe quieter and more efficent) and still light...42lbs
