My walk-away lock feature mysteriously returned, but the touch to lock/unlock is still gone. Any idea?

About a week or so ago, after I got home from getting my 23 Lariat from getting TSB-25-2105 (replaced TSB-25-2048 according to the service manager) where they updated everything they could on my truck for me, I found I suddenly for the first time had walk away lock (not sure what they updated that turned it on) when Ford Pass notified me it locked my truck when I walked in the house.

The strange part for me is there is no toggle to turn it on/off in the truck Sync screen under "locks" where it is supposed to be so I cannot turn it back off. I don't like WAL very much as I go into the garage to get stuff from my truck and occasionally don't have phone with me from time to time. Plus out of habit I just lock it by hand with a button push before I walk away when not at home (or via the app if I am paranoid).

And to go totally off topic, am sadly still waiting for "soon" for any form of a BC update from 1.0 too...I keep hoping when I read "they are done pushing out BC to 22/23 trucks that means "soon" is really sometime soon...

Dealer updated the BCM which enabled WAL. Downside is Ford hasn't officially rolled it out to Pre-24MY so no toggles unless you enable them in FORScan yourself.

This is my situation was well. I don't want WAL if there's isn't a way to toggle it off. I purposely haven't taken the truck to the dealer for any CSPs or updates so I don't inadvertently get WAL.

ok, so frustratingly, I have a similar complaint. WAL for Ford is awful. I can leave the truck in a parking lot, walk away, it will not lock 50% of the time. I come back to the truck, only to see it is unlocked. (dont get me started on why the app does not show status). however, in my garage at home, I can shut the drivers door and before I can get to the frunk or passenger door to open if I need, the truck has already locked and honked the horn at me. Not sure why Ford has not been able to figure this out.

I guess I should be thankful that the door handle lock/unlock still works (most of the time), although most times it takes me 3-4 times to get it to respond. If that fails, I have to open my app, then 50% of the time the handle responds. The other times, I have to then push unlock in the app.

Going on 9 months without an update. I am about to run out of my 3 year/36k mile warranty. I am still having the CarPlay issue where about 20% of the time, carplay starts without audio. I am also getting varied issues with my tone changing in the truck.

As I have stated before, I love the truck. I advise anyone who wants to purchase the Lightning. Like most other automakers, as long as you are happy with the truck the day you bought it, then you will be happy in the long term. If you are coming from Tesla, then you will be very unhappy with the progress/changes/updates.

end of rant from me. Back to my daily grind. Hope everyone is doing well.

Ah ha! Thanks for explaining it was the BCM update that did it. I have no desire to tinker with FORscan as I’ll error on the side of caution, not to screw around with the electronic brains of a thing that can kill me or strand me.

Maybe in the next Ford vehicle they will migrate to better approach to the near field phone actions. But the awesomeness of the Lighting far outweighs the little annoying things like WAL surprise adds, greeting lag and lagging handle touch unlocks. Still love my truck even with it’s imperfections😎.

Forscan is fairly straight forward and idiot proof assuming you back up modules you're changing or make note of the changes. ~$60 for the adapter and the license if free for two months. The problem is that you'll add the updated toggles but that won't be enough so you'll tinker with some more stuff. Before you know it, you're spending $1k on a mongoose and power supply to install updates and not wait for OTAs.
