Love this!

Unfortunately I can't root my phone because I use it for BYOD at work, and rooting your phone will cause the BYOD software to list your phone as non-policy compliant.

But I do use Ublock Origin and keep my browser settings pretty locked down. I'm looking at putting a PiHole on my home network, some of the other guys at work swear by it.

Lightning related content: I took my Lightning to work yesterday and charged in the parking garage, got 18.6685kWh for $1.72. W00t!
I know Magisk has a "Magisk Hide" option for all the apps on the phone so that could work if you want "gamble" on it (ummmmm.... :) ). Pihole is a good idea but I haven't played with it much.

I use PIA VPN and the wireGuard Client setup on Glint GL-AX1800 router. It's not overly pricey. I decided to play around with a dedicated server so I have a "workaround" to get the wireguard config file. If I had the router before I has PIA, I would have looked into AzireVPN or Mullvad since those are integrated.

You can also control the IP's that go through the tunnel but I just bought another router and tell the kids to connect to that one (also connect the Roku etc to it)

BTW, let me know if you want my hosts file for your PC, you'd be amazed just how much faster pages load.

That looks pretty interesting, I would want something without WiFi though as I'm pretty invested in the Unifi APs and associated ecosystem. I used some other flavors of WRT in the past to front-end my network. Currently using PFSense between the Unifi router and the CableCo modem.

Turn of wifi and use switch? I flashed my prior router to DD-WRT and Open VPN and ran that for a long time. I switched to the GIint router because the supported WireGuard natively but had to jump through a few hoops to get the config file. Ffor my dedicated IP, I have to grab the file from my PC installation of PIA before it disappears during startup and I found a Python app that generates the file for PIA's standard servers. I also run a VPN server on the router plugged into the Cable Modem so I can VPN from our place in Maine to get the local TV service on the Roku.

Here's the Advance page on the router ...
