Here is the thing, if you road trip a lot and can't afford the extra time, it will be 20 to 40 min ever stop if you run your battery down, then I'd pass in EV.

I road tripped to Tuscaloosa from Huntsville and back yesterday and while this should be a no charge options with ER, it is not. I stopped at the Mercedes Welcome center and had a 10 min top off to 80%, ran around Tuscaloosa till 3PM, stopped again at same location for 6 min charge. Both these charges were for less 10% battery add. I got home with a trip 2.0m/kWh efficiency and 65 miles left

When down to 220 miles, my stops are 40 min. The other irritating thing is EA is just about the most horrible experience ever. Unless you love Walmart parking lots, it sucks waiting for Bolts to finish.

The link above is Tesla locations, Magic Dock a d open to adaptors is better, but not really any more locations that are lacking in the SE as far as I can tell. Now, the Magic Dock I used north of Montgomery a couple of weeks ago, was great because it was at a shopping center with everything from Target to Pharmacy to numerous food options. If you can make your stops work like this with a stop for food it is soo much better. Again I strongly recommend you research your road trip drives first.

And you are perfectly welcome to talk me out of it.
You really came to the right place for us to talk you off the ledge... ;)

I have a Pro SR, and so far it has been great; it is probably not the ideal road trip vehicle and it certainty is not greatest for long distance towing, but I don't road trip a whole lot and I don't tow anymore. I have a longer commute, but it gets me work and back just fine.

Fords software is not as well thought out as Tesla's however I got my vehicle new for well south of $40k (including rebates)... you cannot buy any other 4x4 crew/super cab truck for that price gas, much less an electric vehicle.

If this vehicle makes sense for your use case I would say go for it. For a lot of folks around here it has been great, but I know it is not for everyone.

sw engineering manager,
I couldn't wait for the Cybertruck, so bought a Ford Lightning Pro SR about 18 months ago. Figured I would switch when the CT was available.

The Ford has been great - exceeds expectations.
And nothing about the CT is compelling enough to get me to switch.

Even with the smaller SR battery. I don't road trip in it and only tow locally (awesome towing for short distances by the way).

That is even before considering the the $50,000+ in savings compared to the Tesla.

I'm a Tesla fanatic, ever since I had my P85+ many years ago. I think Tesla is so far ahead of everyone else in the EV world, especially with all the tech and the app.
I just sold my Model 3 a few weeks ago, and now driving my gas car around.
I reserved the Cybertruck during the unveiling, that's how much I want it.

I got the invite to order on my Birthday 1/17 and I ordered with another deposit. I would have thought I'd have a VIN by now and truck delivered in a week or so.
When the Cybertruck first came out, I drove 450 miles to San Diego just to see it in the showroom. I was in awe, it was absolutely spectacular and I couldn't wait to get mine.
I actually got to take a Cybertruck out for 45 minutes and cruise it around town, pretty awesome.

I've been looking at Lightnings lately while waiting for the Cybertruck. I started thinking more and more of having to have the Foundation Series and paying the extra 20k (my value was about 12k) and paying the extra taxes, and not getting the $7,500 POS federal rebate.

I found a deal I couldn't pass up on and I'm driving to Colorado Friday with my trade and driving home my new Lariat ER.

I'd love to have the Cybertruck, but realizing the price is just more than I want to spend right now.
I used to have a F-150 Supercrew long ago and loved it, really looking forward to getting back into a nice truck again.
I'm number 50,000 on the reservations waitlist. Did not want to shell out $20,000 for the FS. I got tempted by the deals available on the Lightning. I went on 2 short test drives and the truck just seemed so massive compared to my Ioniq 5 and Maverick. I saw a great deal on a Lariat ER in Alburquerque and so I flew out there and drove it back to Reno. I went skiing at Taos and Snowbird on the way home. I was afraid I made a mistake until I drove off in it and found it so comfortable and easy to drive. My biggest surprise was how fun it was to drive on twisty mountain roads. I wish I could have test drove the CT. My biggest fear about the CT is the driving position. I was afraid it might be like driving a Toyota Tacoma where you are sitting low on the floor. I like the upright seating position of the Lightning. The visibility is really great too. Much better than the Ram 1500 I had a few years ago.

Great feedback,thank you!

That's a concern I have as I'm 6'3" 340.

I drive a ram and it's comfortable, but I worry about the CT

Yes it does feel like a huge truck, I’m really loving it.
It does feel larger than the Cybertruck
