XLT 311A Tailgate❓

My XLT is being built and I was wanting to get some insight from a current owner about the "Locking removable tailgate with lift assist" (manual tailgate on XLT 312A and higher trims) I know the tailgate is removable but what is lift assist? I have 2018 F150 I installed a aftermarket tailgate damper so the tailgate doesn't slam is this the same thing?

Its a spring that makes the tailgate feel lighter than it is. Makes it easier to close. It is not a replacement for a dampened tailgate.

You'd have to look at an exploded view of one with and one without. I believe all the models with a torsion bar are built on a different line than the ones that don't have them. They might be different internally.

I just confirmed that my window sticker says the same as whats in the original post so I guess I already have it.

I would hate to see how heavy the tailgate is without it! Planning to order a damper at this point to ensure it opens slowly.
