2022 F150 Lightning
Long time reader (May 2021), truck was deliver on July 19, 2022. Took almost 2 years and 29k miles, but finally added the new tires. I did the Eibach adjustable shocks all around (+2.1” in front and +0.33” in back) in February and the Toyo RT Trail tires last week. After some testing and discussion I went with the 35x11.5r20 and they just fit with no rubbing or spacers. Thank you Discount Tire for your help! Love the look!! Range has dropped the normal 15-20%. The side photo is on a slight slop toward the front making the rear look higher.

The Range hit should mostly come from the bigger more aggressive tread and increased tire weight...

Thank you for the comments! The range loss was mostly from the additional tire weight and more aggressive tread, my guess. The OEM I think are around 41lbs each and the new ones are 61lbs. My commute is 6 miles each way, so range is not a concern at this time. I was also thinking KO3’s, but decided I wanted to have some fun this time and try a hybrid.

Did you recalibrate the spedo? If not then a good portion of the loss is from fewer miles than actually traveled used for the calculations.

I got a roughly 10% hit from my 275/60/20 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss tires so your loss sounds about right for the increased diameter.

Looks great though, and if you don't need the range, I say hell yeah!

agree, many forget this and it makes a major impact on range.

not sure of the weight of those tires but my lariat in this warmer weather gets 228 miles with 34x11 (275/65/20 SL tires) on full charge but after adjusting speedo and that is with a 2" level.

15-20% loss seems a bit high for narrow 35s but possible

I will say I am estimating the range loss as I don’t travel on trips, mostly in town or around. I did a 30 mile highway trip today (55-60mph) and got 2.2, which I am happy with. In the past it would have been 2.5-2.7 depending on the wind and temperature.

Speedometers are not supposed to be exactly accurate (as odd as that sounds they typically read slightly faster than you are going for most automakers)

yes with forscan and an appropriate OBD2 cable and PC laptop


you just have to calculate the overall tire circumference in mm and multiply by 0.968 (that is the adjustment I have found based on ford bronco, F150 and F250 stock numbers)

for instance I went from 275/60/20 (2631mm) to 275/65/20 (2718mm)

to correctly change settings I went from 2547mm stock setting to 2631mm setting

for 35x11.5x20 the calculated circumference is 2791mm which means the FORSCAN number should be set to 2702

btw the reason that the speedo typically reads high (but reads accurately with bigger tires and no recalibration) is because auto manufacturers are required by law in certain countries to not underreport speed so they set it whatever percentage they need to above accurate so that it never reads low
