Just curious who out there had paint protection film applied. Obviously this isn't something exclusive to the F150,; I've never had it done but am considering. I can see myself keeping this truck for a while. Thoughts?

I got a sport with the painted bumper that is prone to rock chips so I opted to get PPF on the leading edge of the hood, fenders and bumper. Very happy with it so far.

My Mach-E has Xpel PPF on the whole front end, it was pretty pricey, but has defiantly saved a few big rock chips already. My F150 has HALO EFX spray on protection film. I did a self test of the HALO versus Xpel and felt the HALO held up better against hurled objects (I tested with a CO2 bb gun) and keys. The HALO was a third the price of the Xpel, but I sprayed it myself, professionally installed I'm not sure how cost would compare to the Xpel.

I have the first 18" back along with mirrors done on all my vehicles I think its very much worth it. My truck goes in on the 16th for Xpel and it will be $750 fwiw

I had the front bumper, headlights, hood, front fenders, A-pillars and the front edge of the roof wrapped. I plan to keep it a while and drive a lot for work so I felt it was worth it. So far no new rock chips. Also nice to know that bug guts won't etch the paint if you can't wash it as frequently.

If you're keeping it a long time I would recommend it for the painted bits up front. My father drives a 18 Mustang GT on the highways in Houston everyday and it already looks terrible.

Do you do just the wrap or also the ceramic coating (or similar)?
How long does it last (the wrapping)? Sorry, I don't know much about this and was starting to look into this as well for my upcoming truck.

Can you share more about the halo coating spray?

HALO EFX is a sprayable vinyl coating. It's kind of like plasti-dip, in that it is flexible and removable, but it's vinyl instead of rubber and can be clear coated as well. For paint protection I put down 8 layers of the flexible base and two layers of clear coat. After the clear coat it has a factory level gloss. The HALO is also tintable, which is how I achieved the two tone look on my truck, some of the HALO is white and some is clear.

Depending on how much of you truck you want to cover, you might need more than one kit. To do my truck, which is everything in white and everything below the white plus the hood I used 3 gallons. I did not buy the kit linked above, I bought the gallons separated and used a clear coat I'm comfortable with, but I linked the kit for proof of concept.

Had XPEL PPF put on hood, full front, grill (satin finish), mirror caps, rocker panels, and B pillars (satin). Area I live has lots of gravel and dirt roads. Happy so far. Plan to ceramic over the film and full truck.

I don’t ceramic coat as it doesn’t provide as much protection as people make it out to be. Will not protect from rocks and chips. Plus PPF has self healing capabilities. And can last around 10 years plus

Xpel PPF is on the front clip of every vehicle I’ve owned in recent years. We’ve used paint film since chipping up a painted ‘05 Mini bumper in the first year. The PPF gets cults and dimples, not the paint. Works great. We go straight from the dealer to the detailer or customized with every new vehicle.

Just got a quote for $2000 for the front clip. Maybe for an exotic, but not sure about for a truck. Picked up some touch up paint for $20 from AutoZone.
I usually only do the first 18" or so and mirrors for mine it is $700. FWIW the whole clip quote was $1,600

Cost is by installer, I suppose, and mine charges a bit more for trucks. $3200 got me a full XPEL PPF in clear w/10 year warranty, the entire grill done in satin, the B pillars in satin, and front to rear rocker panels in clear. I have taken a few rocks to the lower bumper since and the PPF self repaired in sunlight.
