MY22 Lightning Production Number

I just got off the phone with the largest volume Ford dealer in my PNW region. The sales manager provided a production number for MY22 F-150 Lightning. A number I had not heard previously. Are you sitting down? Fur the entire USA the number is 16,000. As Mr. Omagi said, "patience Grasshopper".

Wasn't that just the original Ford number at launch? I think it has been revised since then.

I am not surprised - though that could be retail production, with a little more for fleets and demo vehicles (not sure on that though). 15k to 20k sounds like the right range and about what everyone is (or should have been) expecting.

I should have mentioned that my conversation was about “retail” orders. As for expectations, I am not privvy to any information that would have enabled ANY credible number.

We had the 15k number (which was stated as wrong by Darren Palmer), who then went onto say 80k to 90k was the target for 2023. From their, you can approximate 2022 pretty well. They are starting mid year (so 50% reduction from 2023) and need to ramp up. If it is a straight/ linear ramp, you get 50% (average) of your final production tempo integrated across the ramp up period - so another 50% reduction

80k x ~50% x ~50% = ~20k for 2022.

Lots of assumptions, but it gives you a ballpark number.

Well, Jim Farley has been quoted by many reputable sources (maybe even tweeted it):

So I guess that about seals my fate, as I most certainly didn't make my reservation on the first day.

I'm with you on that, Robot. Glad that I put reservation deposits down on R1T, Nikola Badger, GMC Hummer PU, and Lightning on the day I learned about each. I really didn't care which back then: only whomever can put one in my driveway first gets my money. With F-150 i the game my opinion has moderated to the point that I employ VooDoo rituals to influence Ford to select me as an early customer ;-). (No CyberTruck 'cause Musk is a skunk).

Well, that's what I was trying to find out! My understanding is that reservation number (10910950) and reservation date (5/23/21) have nothing to do with dealer allocations.

It seems like a somewhat fictional number considering order banks haven't opened yet...Are you one of the few "priority customers" I've read about, or am I missing the boat by not going after my dealership?

My dealership has told me nothing and begrudgingly takes calls about the Lightning...

I think they mean that only 16,000 Lightnings will be build for model year 2022.
