Talked to my sales guy in person today and he claimed his sales manager has not received this memo yet and they are not aware of any prioritization process. Said he'd let me know as soon as he saw or heard something.

Being truthful or not, who knows but I am not sure why they would lie. So either they didn't get it or they don't know how to work the portal/site this notification comes in on.

I guess if they don't prioritize anyone then it defaults to Ford sending invites out in order of timestamps.. which is fine with me as I put in a few minutes before the presentation started that night... assuming that was when the reservation banks opened. I should be ok I hope.
I put my reservation in a few minutes after the presentation started. What is your reservation number?

I don't understand these reservation numbers. If you did before the presentation and I did it 3 minutes after. Why is mine 10813xxx?

The numbers are only somewhat sequential and don't matter. All that matters is the time stamp.

With the WBDO ordering system, retail orders default to priority code “19”
Are you sure you both were talking about the same thing?
So this means all of their orders are retail, not fleet? Interesting.

Numbers aside, I asked where we fell on his priority list, and he said "with what we have available to us, very high."

I am curious about other interpretations of his statement, or what "very high" might mean in the context of a list?

I don't think anybody implied all the orders were retail. What they are trying to explain is every standard retail order gets priority code "19." It has nothing to do with the number or type of reservations. Your order, my order, the next person's order are all a priority "19" since the number 19, according to the previous poster, is the designation Ford uses for standard priority.

So to interpret the messages above, when your dealer used the number "19," they may have been referring to the priority code you were assigned... which has nothing to do with where you fall on their list. You could be number, 7, 9, or 25. All are assigned a priority code of 19.

If you were previously told you are 9th on their list, then you are ninth on their list. The only way that would change is if they made a customer a "priority" to move up in line to the front.

Since your dealer seems to have told you all of their orders are "19," I would take that to mean they aren't planning to give anybody a special priority status.

Ok that makes sense! Thanks for that explanation. And in the context of no special prioritization, I think his statement of "with what we have available" that I'm "very high" can only be good.

Funny thing is, I don't even want to finance this truck before October. January 2023 is my ideal time frame actually. We are taking the family on a two week, once in a lifetime type trip to Alaska in August - $$$$$. So for a nice down payment on the Lightning, a few months buffer would be nice. And i wont even need a 3rd vehicle until late September when my daughter turns 16. But at the end of the day, I'll take the truck when I can get it!

Spoke with my dealer today, as of now looks like I'm 15th in line. Reservation placed minutes after the presentation ended. Will see where I'm at next week after the priority customers skip the line. He didn't say how many reservations they have. Please let this go better than the bronco disaster.

That's because they don't make sense.

Here is mine:
Ford F-150 Lightning ? Official Info: F-150 Lightning Reservations to Order Conversion & Invitation Process. Dealer Pricing Options {filename}

  • Reservation Date (GMT)
    E70
    5/19/2021
  • Reservation Number
    10845008

  • No idea where I am in line at my dealer. Haven't had much luck changing it from my LA dealer to an OC one since no one returns my calls. Probably not that worried about me as a customer. Keep in mind it's to their benefit to frustrate us and have us go away--it frees up the unit for sale to the highest public bidder.

I haven't been worrying too much about since I'm pretty sure I'm in front of almost everyone. I kept trying to reserve it before the presentation even started but the website wouldn't let me. I already got my wife a Mach E in February, so I was sure I wanted this one. As soon as the presentation started I was able to finally reserve the Lightning. The Ford customer service agent said my timestamp was 3 minutes past when the online ordering began.

My dealer told me that I'm number 1 on the list out of 197 and he promised that he wouldn't bump anyone in front of me. I have bought a bunch of vehicles over the years from him. I sold my 2021 F150 a month ago in preparation for this truck, so I am hoping that I didn't make a mistake and my Lightning comes in by June. If not, I'm not sure what to do. If I have to end up buying a regular 22 F150 ICE, then I'm waiting until the redesign for the lightning in 2025. I will definitely be visiting my dealer weekly once I place my order to see how I'm looking.

I'm a morning of May 29th reservation so more than a week after launch #10949xxx. I know I am at least MY2023 hopefully not MY2024 just can't get my dealer to admit it. I'm looking forward to living vicariously through your builds and hearing what MY2022 options are supply chain limited.

Although I finally got my sales Droid to admit more than 350 reservations and they are going in time of reservation order ... so he says. No way to tell how many they prioritize when they have the volume to bump 25 and my guess is most dealers will not get more than 25 builds in MY2022. He still thinks he enters the vehicle order for me rather than I convert my reservation with a build config online and he accepts it at the dealership to confirm the order.

There is a way to tell how they will prioritize. Your dealer told you they aren't giving anybody priority status and are going in reservation order, correct? It would be pretty shady for the dealer to tell you they were going in order of reservation time and then used the priority option to do the exact opposite and move the order around, so I doubt they do that.

Well, I hope the don't do that.

What am I saying... I put no faith in the dealers. You are right. They could promise you they are going in order and then do the complete opposite. I should stop hoping for better from dealers because It frequently leads to disappointment.
