If you can find out how to do this, it would be super helpful, in fact probably worth it’s own thread. I am among those in desperate need of having my order transferred to another dealer.
Thanks for participating in this circus NayNay.....You bet it would be a great tool to have in the arsenal if possible. I can just see these clowns getting together and saying.. "hey guys, don't show your cards until the truck is shipped". Maybe we could get Carvana to go pick it up from the offender's lot...LOL. Bottom line is you gotta find a dealer you can trust and stick with them and I don't know how much time and energy I can find for that. But...after a couple more waves we should start seeing who to avoid more clearly.
Cheers

I don't have the actual process completely down. I can get more details on it Monday afternoon for you. I do know you can place an order, have it built, then have it shipped to another dealership for your delivery.
Great info here.

From my own experience dealers are being super careful about putting Anything in writing. My last eight emails (or text) went unanswered. Phone calls are no proof afterward.

This points to one of the downfalls of the strategy being used by many Reservists... switching to out-of-area dealers based on No ADM verbal promises.

Even though I have to pay a nominal ADM I was able to stay in the timestamp line or maybe even bump down by going to the dealer in person numerous times and being a nuisance. Every step of the conversation I got it in writing and countersigned (Estimate, purchase agreement, bill of sale, order form). Anything verbal gives a dealer an out later. Trust But Verify.

My dealer was upfront about how much and why they were going to charge an ADM, my chances on getting a 2022MY, and options to wait. I appreciated that honesty. And they appreciated my insistence they put things in writing because they know I am serious ) and I would have walked away with my cash).

If you switch dealers for No ADM you take a chance you will lose a face-to-face relationship and mutual trust and it seems like a lot of people are losing out on the Lightning they had their heart set on.

I am soooo tired of hearing about needing to have a relationship with an auto dealer to establish trust. I didn’t need a relationship with my realtor to ensure she worked in my best interest when buying a house. I didn’t need a relationship with Tesla to buy a car. If I order a couch from the local furniture store, I do not have to worry about the price changing when I get there. Why do we accept this from car dealers?

As someone who recently got the BS markup from dealership, I don't see any need of this so-called relationship. Their only purpose is to get more money out of your pocket. period.

Seems to me that the dealer should be leading the way in striving for the trust and ongoing relationship with the customer, not vice versa. The customer will give the trust and respect back in the form of spending their money there once that trust has been earned. Asinine for a customer to kiss ass for the privilege of dropping $50-90k there. One guy’s opinion…

The dealer model is antiquated and car sales are changing. I've moved around the country quite a bit and there are few dealerships that I have experienced that see customers as anything other than a 'mark' to con; Up-selling on BS packages, ADM, undercutting on trades, 'let me talk to my manager,' etc. NADA has lobbied to have legislation passed in many states to prohibited direct sales. The customer would be better served with a corporate showroom/lot and service center. Let the current dealership sales folks compete with the CarMax, Carvana, Vroom, etc., in the used car market without the excitement of the latest/greatest models from the manufacturer drawing people in the door....they would not last. Maybe I have just been unfortunate with my dealers/service centers....

Emails and no solid details about fees and ADM policies.

"we want to get all the information needed to write up your deal so that you can be in & out of the office visit to minimize contact"

"we need to have a telephone conversation to cover all your unanswered questions"

Make the call..... " oh sorry the GM and sales manager are meeting to discuss new policy about fees and ADM, I'll get back to you with more information ..... confirm he has my cell #, yup ......"

Email FROM SALESMAN {not a call as I requested] to follow-up 4 hours later, "I need more information from you to assist ....."

I call, general number (still don't have his direct dial #) receptionist puts me through, goes to voicemail, {I'll give it a pass that he could be talking to another prospect]. left my message that I'm available to chat to answer any additional questions they need to firm up the dealer proposal, once again doubly stated my call back number.

4 hours later, no return call, email back to him recapping that my earlier call was not returned, and looking forward to conversation and order a face to face Tuesday.

Today as I post this 10:35 am EST, no call, no email. {VMS announcement from yesterday's call} indicates his weekly contact schedule & working hours and it's possible he won't be in until 11 today as he's working until dealer closing hours today.

Being a retired bureaucrat I completely understand boiler room mentality of juggling emails, calls and unexpected walkin customer visits, it eff's up the workday, but the one thing I always did was return a call when a call was requested, and when that failed the email was a backup to elicit whatever was needed to close an issue or matter.

But no one has ever called a Used Car Salesman a Professional.

How do you go about shipping it to a different dealer? I had not heard this after an order is placed and accepted by the dealer. Does that cancel out your agreement with the previous dealer?

Thanks!
It took me a while longer to dig and find this information out....
You can have a vehicle drop shipped to another location if the receiving dealer gives you permission along with the dealer code and it's treated like a courtesy delivery once the vehicle has been converted (not in a 99 code) and ready to be built but not yet sent to Ford to be built. Ask the receiving dealer if they charge any added fees. Many times there's a 500 fee. You can decide if you want to do your paperwork with the original dealer or the dealer your vehicle gets shipped to. Keep in mind this can create some drama between the 2 dealers since 1 gets the credit for selling it and the other doesn't. The original dealer would set it to go to the other dealership.
Once a vehicle has been scheduled to be built the process changes and the original dealership has to do a diversion request and there's no 100% guarantee that it will ship to the new destination. Hope this helps.

No action by the dealer........

Spoke to 800-334-4375 (option 2, Lightning, Lightning) the representative confirmed my current dealer needs to REJECT my offer to purchase. Then I need to call 800-334-4375 and seek a transfer to another dealer of my choosing.

The lightning hot line open until 8pm EST.

Next step is dealer f2f with the general manager, get the facts straight from the horse's mouth we either make a deal or REJECT.
