Picked up my truck with my wife today (@TaxmanHog , forum tracker change submitted)…we traded her Subaru (they matched my Carvana offer).
My wife drove the truck for an extended ”test“ drive while the dealer finished up the paperwork…I think I may have lost the truck…she was impressed. 🥺

BTW, discovered a neat trick for tight, looow speed, maneuvers (e.g., parking in a snug home garage). The 360 cameras come on when you put it in Reverse (duh). The cameras stay on when you then place it in Drive until you reach ~5 mph. If you quickly shift from P to D, the 360 cameras do not activate….pause in R for 1-2 sec while shifting to D, the cameras activate. This is great for pulling forward out of tight spaces. Same trick works when pulling up to a tight garage/space…stop, shift to R for 1-2 sec, then back to D with the 360 cameras to guide your way.

It worked putting our new baby away for an early bedtime (on the first attempt) for some trickle charging while we wait for our FCSP….or, a trip to a local DC fast charger😘

I was able to pick up my Truck this am.

However I got a call yesterday from my sales guy that he made a huge mistake and accidentally dented the door when moving the truck away from the chargers at the dealership. They are going to 100% cover all repairs but still a bit of a bummer.

I really enjoyed a small session of blue cruise on the way home. And spent an hour setting everything up the way I want it.

For the last 8 years I have been driving a Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. It has been a wonderful truck for me. The #1 biggest thing I noticed with the Lightning vs the Ram is the F150 is so much more Airy and open in the cabin. I feel like the pope riding around in the popemobile surround by loads of glass and amazing sight lines.

Second, the F150 is dramatically quieter (we are comparing to a diesel after all - but the EcoDiesel is easily the quietest of the diesels I have experienced). This makes such a massive difference to my driving enjoyment. I just got back from crusing around, checking out the free chargers close to my house and I could have just kept driving for hours I was so relaxed and enjoying the beautiful weather.

And my third quick hot take is related to one of my favorite Ram features which were the Ram Boxes. I am going to miss them. They were always loaded with 1-200 lbs of items that I would use all the time. But alas the Mega power frunk is totally gonna be a great alternative once I 3d print and make some organizers for the items I use the most.

I think a PDR guy could get this. It’s a sharpish point but it’s on a flat panel. Not sure glue pull will get this one and will use rods. It’s amazing what some of those hail chasers can do… lol

Hopefully they can go in through a door panel or window area. I know at the used lot I worked at they drilled sides of doors Left and right and just put plugs in the holes.

I have a few tools of my own but I’m garbage at it. Not enough dents to practice on. Maybe I should get a junkyard door for practice.

My Lighting arrived in West Chicago on the 16th. It has been sitting there now for 8 days. The trace shows it still in West Chicago with an ETA at "Industry" (Richmond, CA) of July 27th. My delivery estimate is July 31 - August 6th. Things are moving pretty slowly at the moment.....

This one:

At least I think I am interpreting the information correctly.

Union Pacific

1. Call UP at 1 800 877-5123

2. Follow phone prompts for Trace

3. Say the railcar number complete and clearly. Example CN123456 all together

4. Listen for your update

You might be interpreting it wrong.

UP trace gives four bits of info:

1. Current status (never states a real location)
2. Estimated time of arrival at industry
3. UP origin (Chicago, West coast)
4. Shipped from origin (Dearborn)

example:

This means the railcar is loaded and arrived at a major stop/interchange.

Been traveling from Chicago since 7/13.

And here is it at the destination waiting to be unloaded:

Thank you gorwell. Here is the information that I get when I call the UP 800 Number. Let me give this a try - It has been traveling from West Chicago since 7/16 and has arrived at a major stop or interchange on 7/20. So rather than my assumption that it was still in West Chicago, it is well on its way to Richmond CA. I am anxious to get an update that it has been "Placed at Industry".
